Some notes
- Wide receiver Mecole Hardman was downgraded on Friday. After a limited designation on Thursday, Hardman was out of practice altogether on Friday. If Hardman cannot play, the Chiefs will have to pivot in terms of a returner. We have more information on that here.
- Running back Kareem Hunt (shoulder), running back Clyde Edwards-Helaire (illness) and defensive end Mike Danna (calf) were limited for the second straight day. Danna had to miss last week’s game due to his calf injury.
- Defensive tackle Derrick Nnadi (triceps) and linebacker Nick Bolton (hamstring) have also been listed on the report, but they were full participants for both practices this week. Nnadi has been listed on the injury report with his triceps injury since the beginning of the season.
- Earlier this week, the Chiefs announced that they had placed wide receiver Rashee Rice on the Reserve/Injured list. This means that Rice will miss at least the next four games — and therefore, he is no longer required to be listed on the injury report. We have more information on Rice’s next steps here.
- The Saints have listed 15 players on their injury report, but perhaps the most important note pertaining to Monday night’s game is a player who isn’t on the list: safety Tyrann Mathieu. Mathieu left the Saints’ last game with a groin injury, but he isn’t even listed on the report, indicating the former 2019 world champion is in good standing to return to Arrowhead and play.
- Another Chiefs’ fan favorite, linebacker Willie Gay Jr. (hand), did not practice for the second straight day. And neither did tight end Taysom Hill (rib). Hill, an important weapon for the Saints, is unlikely to play Monday night since his ribs are fractured. The team hasn’t ruled out injured reserve for Hill.
- There were only three changes for the Saints: kicker Blake Grupe (hip) logged a full practice after missing on Thursday, tight end Juwan Johnson (forearm) logged a full practice after being limited and running back Kendre Miller (hamstring) was also upgraded to full from limited.
- Along the offensive line, the Saints were already down to their backup center, Shane Lemieux (ankle), who remained out of practice. Head coach Dennis Allen said that his injury was not serious, but it is one to watch. Right guard Cesar Ruiz (knee) also didn’t practice again either. As noted on Thursday, defensive tackle Chris Jones coming off his most impressive outings of the season — one that earned him the AFC defensive player of the week award. Left tackle Taliese Fuaga (back) was limited.
- Star wide receiver Chris Olave (hamstring) is on the injury report, but he was a full participant for both workouts.
