Random Ramsdom: 4 games in how do we feel about Chris Shula?

Los Angeles Rams News and Links for 10/4/24

The Los Angeles Rams are off to a shaky 1-3 start and if the entire team is to blame then new defensive coordinator Chris Shula is part of that. Shula has big shoes to fill as each time Sean McVay hired a new defensive coordinator the Rams have gone to the playoffs. Reaching the playoffs is still very doable but it’s going to literally become less likely with each loss, and LA already has three of those.

How do you feel about Chris Shula? I would guess there will be more of a deep dive into this topic once we hit the bye week, but for now let us know what you think!

How do I feel about Shula? Thanks for asking on this lovely Friday! I say it’s been four weeks; they don’t have Aaron Donald. With all due respect they don’t seem to have a top corner and due to injuries players are being asked to do more than what they are capable, however with reps (short for repetitions) things can get better. I think McVay should continue to stay the course. He’s steered this team through turbulent waters before, and I think the bye week might be just what the team needs.

Is this a playoff team? They don’t look like it. Can this team take it on the chin this year and be all the better for it next year? Of course they can. Can the team turn it around in time to save their season now? Well, we’re just going to have to keep watching, aren’t we?

Thanks for checking out Turf Show Times and have a great day!

Chris Shula’s first four weeks as Rams DC have been a nightmare (ramswire)

“That’s a result of the defensive play calling and scheme implemented by first-year defensive coordinator Chris Shula. In four games, Shula’s defense has given up an average of nearly 29 points per game, or a touchdown every quarter.

Compared to 21.1 PPG a year ago, a near eight-point differential, gives teams essentially an extra possession that the Rams have struggled to make up.

Now, why is this the case? There are many reasons. The Rams have had blown coverages left and right, they fail to not only limit but simply contain WR1s across the league, and their linebacking corps is playing at a troubling level. But the answer is much simpler than that.”

Rams reveal uniform choice for Week 5 vs. Packers (ramswire)

“After wearing their white jerseys three times and their Bone uniforms once in the first four weeks, the Rams will finally be in their royal blue jerseys on Sunday when they host the Green Bay Packers at SoFi Stadium. They announced their full uniform set for this weekend’s game on social media, going with blue jerseys, Bone pants and royal blue socks.

It’s not a combination often worn by the Rams, who typically wear yellow pants with their blue jerseys.

The Packers haven’t officially announced their uniform choice but we can assume they’ll be wearing their traditional road white jerseys with yellow pants.”

Packers get next chance to feast on Rams’ struggling defense (ehextra)

“WR Jayden Reed caught seven passes for 139 yards and a touchdown against the Vikings. He has 17 receptions for 336 yards and three total touchdowns (two receiving, one rushing) this season. He’s the only player since the 1970 NFL-AFL merger to have at least 80 catches, 1,000 yards receiving, 10 touchdown catches and 200 yards rushing over his first 20 NFL games.”
