Last year’s Heisman winner has had an incredible start in the pros.
The Cleveland Browns received a boost on Wednesday as Nick Chubb practiced for the first time of the season after the team activated his 21-day practice window. The Browns continued to lick their wounds as many players were either limited or nonparticipants, including Myles Garrett.
Washington Commanders rookie quarterback Jayden Daniels has become the talk of the league by impressing with his performance over the first four games of the season. Daniels has completed 82% of his passes and has rushed for four touchdowns in their hot start.
Washington’s offensive coordinator Kliff Kingsbury has put the rookie in position to make explosive plays with his arm and legs. While Daniels is the main threat on Sunday the Commanders also have other skill position players as well.
If the Browns are going to start to turn their season around, they will have to find a way to win this one on the road. Browns defensive coordinator Jim Schwartz and his staff are working overtime to put together an effective game plan to take away what he likes to do.
Despite Cleveland’s early defensive struggles, they are still the most talented unit the rookie will face to date. In addition, Schwartz has the benefit of having a full four games of tape to watch.
The Browns will want to overwhelm him with pressure to get him off rhythm while trying to confuse him just enough in coverage. The biggest key will be to not lose contain on the edges and allow him to scramble for big gains.
The opportunity is there for the Cleveland defense to return to form from last year and help the team get a win that they desperately need. It’s exactly the kind of situation that Schwartz was hired to begin with, and the entire league will be keeping an eye on this Sunday.
