Bills at Texans: 5 storylines to watch for in Week 5
The Buffalo Bills will turn to the next page of their 2024 NFL regular season.
Following 35-10 loss to the Baltimore Ravens in Week 4, the Bills (3-1) will visit the Houston Texans (3-1) at NRG Stadium in their upcoming matchup.
But before we even get to kickoff, there will be a lot of Bills-related discussions and conversations to be had throughout the coming days.
With that, here are five storylines to watch for during the lead up to Bills against the Texans:
Diggs, obviously

It’s Bills vs. Texans. It needs little explanation: Stefon Diggs. The former Buffalo wide receiver now plays in Houston after he was traded there this offseason in a highly-questioned move. Several players on both teams will be asked about the storyline of Diggs facing his former team throughout this upcoming week.
Needing a bounce-back

The score tells the story alone, but the Bills were beaten up badly against the Ravens last week. The team has a whole new leadership group in 2024 and this is the first time they will under the microscope this upcoming week as the team needs a huge bounce-back effort after being slapped around.
On the plus side, since 2019, the Bills have a .770 win percentage after a loss.
Not just Stef

And wait, it’s not just Diggs… in more than one light.
Buffalo knows Diggs is good. Houston has a slew of talented playmakers on their offense not just Diggs, including Nico Collins, Tank Dell and Dalton Schultz.
In addition… there are a couple former Bills players in the Texans’ lineup. Agan, not just Diggs. That bunch is DT Tim Settle Jr., DE Jerry Hughes and WR Robert Woods.
Injury progression

The Bills will keep their eyes on the health of linebacker Terrel Bernard (pectoral) and cornerback Taron Johnson (forearm) throughout the coming days. Both players have missed multiple weeks and did not play in Baltimore. However, they have started to practice in a limited capacity. Does either return against the Texans?
Run game woes

Offensive coordinator Joe Brady has both put an emphasis and found success running the ball since taking over the Bills’ offense. That was not the case against the Ravens. There will be a focus on whether or not Buffalo can correct this in Houston. So far this year, the Texans are a middle-of-the-pack run defense allowing 112.8 yards per game on the ground.
Naturally, quarterback Josh Allen has to play better too.
