The vast majority of Miami Dolphins fans expected to enter this week’s game with a 3 and 0 record. The script did not play out how any of us had hoped. After the week-one game was much closer than any of us were comfortable with, Miami managed to secure a victory over the now 0 and 4 Jacksonville Jaguars, with a field goal as time ran out, 20 to 17. That was followed up with a Thursday night showdown against divisional rival Buffalo Bills in a game that cost the team a 31 to 10 blowout loss and also saw starting quarterback Tua Tagovailoa go down for the next few weeks with yet another concussion. Miami then faced off against the Seattle Seahawks last week. The week three game was again a blowout loss, 24 to 3. The game also saw Miami lose another quarterback to injury when backup Skylar Thompson left the game with a chest injury.

After seeing the offense that was number one in the entire NFL last season falling to the bottom of the league, now ranked 32nd, and the loss of the team’s starting quarterback, Miami went out and signed quarterback Tyler Huntley off of the Baltimore Ravens practice squad. Tyler has now been tagged to start this evening against the Titans. Huntley does not have a reputation for being a good passer up to this point in his career. Still, he is known for being a good to great running/scrambling quarterback, giving Miami a dynamic they do not have with any of the other quarterbacks on the roster. With Tagovailoa out through at least next week’s game, the Dolphins hope that Huntley will add a spark that has been missing back into the Phin’s offense.

The Titans enter this game in even worse shape than the Dolphins up until now, having dropped all three of their games to kick off the season. Many of their issues center around turnovers committed by second-year quarterback Will Levis. Through three games, Levis has five interceptions against four touchdowns, as well as three fumbles. His league-high eight turnovers are also accompanied by 15 sacks given up over the same three games. The inability of the Titan’s offensive line to protect Levis up to this point should offer a lot of opportunity for the Dolphin’s defensive line, which has struggled at times this season, to make some plays this evening.

—My Pick: Miami “should” cover the line this evening as the home team. While Miami has struggled to this point of the season and will be playing with their fourth quarterback in four games, I expect Tyler Huntley to give a run-heavy version of the offense a spark with his ability to move out of the pocket and run when needed. While the Dolphins are unlikely to “run up the score” this evening, they should be able to move the ball enough and do enough to pull out a win by a field goal margin or more. I also expect the Dolphins’ defense to be opportunistic against a Titans offense that has had massive issues this season with both turnovers and the ability to protect the quarterback otherwise.
