New York also works out QB C.J. Beathard
The New York Giants are reportedly signing wide receiver/kick returner Kearis Jackson to their practice squad following a Monday workout.
The workout also included veteran quarterback C.J. Beathard, a third-round pick by the San Francisco 49ers in the 2017 NFL Draft. Beathard, 30, has played in 32 NFL games with the 49ers and Jacksonville Jaguars. He has a 3-10 record as a starter.
Beathard appeared in seven games for Jacksonville last season, completing 40 of 53 passes (75.5%) for 319 yards, a touchdown, and no interceptions.
The Giants also worked out the following players:
DB Lamar Jackson, WR Joseph Ngata, WR Joseph Scates, WR Greg Stroman, WR Bryan Thompson, and WR Seth Williams
Jackson, who played collegiately at Georgia, was signed by the Tennessee Titans as an undrafted free agent before the 2023 season. He suffered an ankle injury and spent the season on injured reserve.
He was waived this year by the Titans when they trimmed their roster to 53 players.
Jackson returned three kickoffs for the Titans during the preseason for an average of 37.0 yards per return, including the 63-yard return below:

Giants’ kickoff returners have struggled. Eric Gray is averaging 25.6 yards on 10 returns, but had a costly fumble against the Cleveland Browns. Gray also struggled with ball security returning kickoffs and punts in 2023. Tyrone Tracy has averaged 20.3 yards on three returns, and also has a fumble.
