One other Giants item: I don’t know how aggressive the Giants would be in moving Kayvon Thibodeaux, but I certainly think they’d listen. The reason is pretty easy to ascertain. They’re deeply invested in Brian Burns, who had an outstanding 2025, and Abdul Carter, whose potential, even after a so-so rookie year, is through the roof. As a result, it’s tough to conjure a scenario where Thibodeaux is a Giant in ’27.

And if that’s the case, and someone offers something good for him, it seems logical that you’d give whatever that offer was a good, long look.

Giants’ biggest draft goal: Reinforce the interiors of both lines. Dexter Lawrence’s trade request threatens to punch a gargantuan hole in the middle of New York’s defensive front. And even if the Giants are able to work things out with the 6-foot-4, 340-pound game-wrecker, “Sexy Dexy” needs more help than incumbent starter Roy Robertson-Harris. On the offensive line, the G-Men are set at the bookends with Andrew Thomas and Jermaine Eluemunor, but they’re still lacking on the interior, even after new head man John Harbaugh welcomed aboard yet another former Raven in guard Daniel Faalele. Harbaugh has said he wants to use the No. 5 overall selection on a player with gold-jacket potential, so that particular pick presumably won’t be used on an interior lineman in this class. But GM Joe Schoen needs to add more beef inside — on both sides.

When asked what about Harbaugh, since the coach has more power in that organization than anyone else in football operations now, he said: “I don’t think Harbaugh wants to trade him, either. Look what happened to his defense last year when (top defensive tackle Nnamdi) Madubuike went down … He wants to build a bully up front. Trading Lawrence for a couple of day two picks?”

Another general manager said: “I don’t think they can get a one (first-round pick) for him. Not when he’s pushing 30 and not when you are going to have to pay him, too.”

And which pick are you the most uncertain on? Field Yates: I’ll offer two in back-to-back spots, as the Titans and Giants offer a couple of similar dynamics (Nos. 4 and 5, respectively). Each team has a second-year quarterback and ambitions to make a leap this year, but neither has a dominant running back that takes drafting Love off the table. He is my No. 2 overall prospect and perhaps the best bet to become a Pro Bowler early in his career, but would either team eschew needs at other more premium positions to take a running back? Where Love goes in the top 10 is one of the biggest questions people around the league have wondered about for months.

Second Round: DT Kayden McDonald, Ohio State. Scouting report: “McDonald will require time to develop a pass-rush identity, but his dominant run-game qualities will make him immediately useful from different interior alignments. He projects as an early-down rookie, with a role that should continue to expand.”

DT Christen Miller, Georgia. Scouting report: “Miller can be up and down with his anchor and rush consistency, but he is rock solid as a run defender who should excel on early downs. His role will shift depending on scheme, though he projects best as a one-gapping nose in a four-man front.”
