According to Matt Miller at ESPN, it sounds like the Cincinnati Bengals are expected to target players in the secondary with the 10th overall selection.
“The Bengals are in prime position to address their cornerback need at No. 10. Mansoor Delane (LSU) and Jermod McCoy (Tennessee) sit atop the CB board, and it’s likely one will be there when Cincinnati picks. After signing Mafe, it sounds like the secondary is the team’s Round 1 priority,” Miller wrote.
Caleb Downs is the name most often connected with the Bengals, but could it actually be Dillon Thieneman from Oregon that the Bengals would be willing to select if Downs is no longer on the board when they are on the clock?
With a safety room that already has Bryan Cook, Jordan Battle, and Kyle Dugger, it’s more likely that a cornerback will be the pick if Cincinnati stays put at No. 10.
The other potential players that would fit this speculation are Mansoor Delane and Jermod McCoy. Both players ran well at their respective pro days. Depending on how the board falls, these players could easily end up being the best available players on the board at pick 10.
It is always important to remember that when you get to draft month in April, there is a lot of misinformation going around. While the Bengals could very well be in play for secondary help in the first, they could just as easily be considering several other options.
There is no crystal ball to predict how the first nine selections will play out, but it appears that secondary will certainly be addressed early in the draft by the Bengals.
