Minnesota Vikings News and Links: Will There Be Trades During The Draft?

I am always looking forward to see some wheeling and dealing during the draft. I could see it happening very easily and I can also see nothing happening. At this point, I think the team is going for it in 2026. There will be no tanking or wasting of a year in the careers of some really good players. The NFL is too random. I wanted them to tank before the Andrew Luck and RG3 draft. But this team always finds ways to win meaningless games at the end of seasons just because. The idea it will build into the next season sounds good if the roster was the same. Most of the time there is some changes.

What trade do you want to see and would be happy with?

Minnesota Vikings News and Links

Multiple mock drafts in recent days have projected the Bears selecting safety Emmanuel McNeil-Warren with the 25th overall pick in Round 1. However, ESPN’s Peter Schrager predicted on Tuesday, April 7 that the Vikings will break from previous estimations and draft the Toledo safety seven spots earlier instead of going with Dillon Thieneman of Oregon.

Schrager’s mock was informed by what the prominent insider has heard from teams leading up to the draft, which begins on April 23.

“McNeil-Warren is a tall, rangy safety who plays with high energy and is vocal in the defensive backfield,” Schrager wrote. “We’re still not sure if Harrison Smith will be back at 37 years old, but McNeil-Warren can be the torchbearer once Smith does choose to call it a career. He had five picks over the past three seasons.”

Vikings Candidates to Trade for Giants Defensive Tackle Dexter Lawrence

The franchise’s need at defensive tackle renders it a candidate to trade for New York Giants star Dexter Lawrence, who is looking to leave that franchise after failed negotiations to restructure his $87.5 million deal, which runs through 2027.

Lawrence’s price is likely to fall somewhere between a first-round pick and a combination of second-round and fifth-round assets in the upcoming draft.

Mock trade

Vikings get: DT Dexter Lawrence

Giants get: 2026 second-round pick (No. 49), 2027 fifth-round pick

“Vikings send 82 and conditional third-round pick (upgrades to second with either All-Pro selection or 10.0+ sacks, first round pick with both) to the Giants for Dexter Lawrence and pick 105,” wrote A to Z Sports’s Tyler Forness.

“This is a fascinating move for the Vikings to make. They have been interested in adding a player like Lawrence for some time, and bringing him in would bolster a defensive line that needs it.”

I like it of course. Getting Sexy Dexy and Mesidor is not too bad. In the third I could have went with more defense but the ones I liked were gone. The team will need a WR, TE, and RB heading into 2027. Hecht is solid but probably needs to add more bulk and strength. Trading JJ is tough but if Kyler wins the job and plays all year his value could be less.

Note: this is the only mock I have one with a trade of JJ
