Earlier in the offseason, it was reported that Texas A&M wide receiver KC Concepcion would visit with the Miami Dolphins ahead of the 2026 NFL Draft. Well, that day has come — as the pass catcher is in Miami Gardens talking with the Dolphins’ new front office exactly two weeks before the team is scheduled to have two first-round picks.
On his NFL Draft profile on the league’s official website, Lance Zierlein projects Concepcion to go in the first round of this year’s selection process — comparing him to longtime Seattle Seahawks great receiver, Doug Baldwin.
Concepcion offers immediate burst and separation into space. He’s elusive in beating press and getting into breaks with minimum damage from handsy coverage. While he has a one-speed approach, he can snap off routes with alarming suddenness, making him extremely difficult to match at leveraged break points. He’s instinctive against zone. He’s also a nightmare for man coverage on choice routes and near the goal line. He’s quicker than fast, with more value on utility throws utilizing run after catch. Concepcion’s ability to quickly uncover should be very appealing to teams with spotty protection and a young quarterback.
While Concepcion would provide Miami with an immediate upgrade in athleticism in the wide receivers room, drops were a problem at times for the 6’0”, 196 lb pass catcher — having 19 such mishaps over three seasons’ worth of play at N.C. State and Texas A&M.
Despite his somewhat slippery hands, Concepcion was a productive receiver in college — amassing 185 catches for 2,218 yards and 25 receiving touchdowns. He also added 70 rushing attempts for 431 yards (6.2 yards per carry) and three rushing scores.
He’s the type of weapon the Dolphins could use on offense — especially after parting ways with both Tyreek Hill and Jaylen Waddle this offseason. He’d be a reach at #11, but a steal at #30 in the first round — so if new general manager Jon-Eric Sullivan covets Concepcion’s skillset, he may need to do some wheeling and dealing come April 23rd.
