Cornerback Paulson Adebo was one of only three players not in attendance for the opening of the New York Giants voluntary offseason program, and the only one who was not expected to be absent.
Star defensive tackle Dexter Lawrence is not in attendance as he seeks a contract extension. The fact that Lawrence would not be in attendance was reported on Monday, and Harbaugh said Monday that he expected this might happen for several weeks.
Newly-signed defensive tackle Sam Roberts was not in attendance. Harbaugh said Roberts recently had a surgery and was not yet allowed to travel.
“Sam wasn’t here because he has a surgery he can’t travel with yet. He’s got to wait for the stitches to heal,” Harbaugh said.
Adebo is entering the second year of a three-year contract.
“It’s his right. It’s his reason. Whatever his reason is, I’ll be interested to hear it. But it is what it is. It’s OK,” Harbaugh said.
The offseason program is voluntary, per the Collective Bargaining Agreement.
