With Kirk Cousins signing with the Las Vegas Raiders, does Jimmy Garoppolo have any leverage over the Los Angeles Rams? L.A. had been open this week that they were open to adding either Cousins or Jimmy G. at their backup position, and one of those players is no longer an option (outside of a trade).
At this point, it seems like the Rams either sign Jimmy G. to have him back on their roster, similar to the last couple seasons, or they go into the year with Matthew Stafford, Stetson Bennett, and someone TBD.
What are the Rams planning at their quarterback position?
We don’t know, yet.
Happy Friday! I hope it’s a Good one. Thanks for checking out Turf Show Times!
Jimmy Garoppolo ‘weighing a few options’ after Kirk Cousins free agency domino falls (nypost)
“The former second-round pick out of Eastern Illinois has a track record of success, having led the 49ers to the Super Bowl in 2020, though many remember his overthrown pass to Emmanuel Sanders on a critical third down against the Chiefs that loomed large in the defeat.
With Garoppolo’s days as a starter likely over, the 34-year-old still has experience in big spots leading an offense, which could be invaluable to a team with a younger quarterback at the position.“
Rams fail to woo Kirk Cousins makes next quarterback moves blindingly obvious (ramblinfan)
“The link between quarterback Kirk Cousins and his former offensive coordinator, Sean McVay, was too obvious to ignore. But it’s neither an absolute nor a sure thing. After all, McVay reunited with former Washington wide receiver DeSean Jackson, but that alliance only lasted a handful of games.
Rams next steps to quarterback solution is blindingly obvious
With Cousins off the market, the LA Rams next moves to restock the quarterback room seem blindingly obvious. First and foremost, look for general manager Les Snead to fast-track negotiations to return backup quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo to the team. But it won’t stop there.“
Rams’ Options at No. 13 Offer First Round’s Most Intrigue (si.com)
“With the 2026 NFL Draft around the corner, the best drafting team, the Los Angeles Rams are getting ready to make it another draft in which they get great players.
The Rams have been doing that over the last few years, and they are looking to do the same in this year’s draft. The Rams are looking to make their team as great as they could and the draft is one way they do that. It is a time for the Rams to steal players that no one has on their radar, or ones that teams actually do.“
Random Ramsdom Fandom:
“They let the “home team” for international games cross out opponents off their schedule, I’ve heard teams can cross off two. Obviously they did not cross out the 49ers. Just like the 49ers will absolutely cross Denver off the list for the Mexico City game. Kyle could be wrong though, every Rams game in LA is a home game for the opposing team.“ -Steve Young’s Grandpa
