Looking early in the defensive trenches
Nearly two-thirds of polled fans in Chiefs Kingdom are eyeing a defensive lineman — whether an edge rusher or an interior player — to be selected with the ninth-overall pick in the 2026 NFL Draft.
This year’s draft class is headlined by edge rushers Rueben Bain Jr. from Miami and David Bailey from Texas Tech, but edge defenders Keldrick Faulk from Auburn and Ahkeem Mesidor from Miami are ranked within the top 20 of The Athletic’s top-100 consensus board as well.
Should Brett Veach trade up?
After some discussion this week among the Arrowhead Pride users about a trade-up scenario from pick No. 9 to pick No. 6, only 18% of Chiefs fans who voted want general manager Brett Veach to be aggressive about trading up from the top pick.
Considering that Bain and Bailey are the prize defensive linemen of this class, some fans may need to understand that trading up could be the only way to draft one of the two.
