Eagles center Cam Jurgens details extent of past back injuries: ‘I don’t know how I was playing’ – Inquirer

Jurgens, via his agent, declined an interview request from The Inquirer in February after posting about his trip to Colombia on social media. But Jurgens appeared this week on the Bussin’ With the Boys podcast with former NFL players Will Compton and Taylor Lewan in a wide-ranging appearance that also included some time spent talking about his injuries and recovery. […] “It’s getting better every day,” Jurgens said when asked how his back feels.Jurgens said on the podcast that his disk “broke off” before the playoffs and “wrapped around” his sciatic nerve. “It was hard to walk,” Jurgens said. “I don’t know how I was playing. It was easily the worst month of my life but also the best month of my life because we won the Super Bowl.” Jurgens required an epidural to dress for the Super Bowl, he said. He didn’t start in the NFC championship game after going through warmups but was forced into action after Landon Dickerson went down with an injury. Jurgens then had surgery after the Super Bowl and worked his way back onto the field. But he dealt with pain and wasn’t fully rehabbed, he said, during the 2025 season. Jurgens was still selected for a Pro Bowl, but his play on the field declined as the Eagles offensive line was not as impactful while dealing with multiple injuries. “It takes a good year to come back from that,” Jurgens said of his 2025 surgery. “I’m starting to feel really good.”

Eagles roster inventory: Where the 2026 team stands – BGN

The Eagles’ offense in 2026 is going to be led by someone who’s never been an offensive coordinator before, or called plays before, and was essentially the team’s 4th or 5th choice for the gig, so trepidation about that situation is warranted, as well. But it’s hard to grade the offseason before the NFL Draft takes place. The whole picture has yet to be painted. It is a good time to take stock of what the Eagles have as they enter next month’s Draft, armed with nine total picks, four of them in the top-100.

Eagles contract candidates: Extend or wait? – PhillyVoice

JimmyVerdict: As noted in Thursday’s mailbag, Jordan Davis’ contract extension actually lowered his cap number in 2026, so there was no holdup getting that done. In Jalen Carter’s case, any extension is going to raise his 2026 cap number. The A.J. Brown situation probably has to play out one way or another before we see any Carter extension announced. In the meantime, it is an absolute certainty that the Eagles will exercise Carter’s fifth-year option by the May 1 deadline. I expect an extension to get done this offseason, but it might take a while. Extend.

Tackle Talk – Iggles Blitz

Monroe Freeling – 6-7, 315 – Georgia – If you asked me which player had any chance of developing into a Lane Johnson type of player, Freeling is the guy. He is big, highly athletic and has a nasty streak. He has really good feet. The thing he’s missing is experience. He only started one season at UGA, playing LT. His potential is through the roof and that’s the reason I think he’ll go well before 23. If Howie is trading up for a tackle, this is the guy who could be worth it.

10 biggest questions after NFL free agency but before the 2026 draft – NFL.com

3) What are the Eagles going to do with A.J. Brown? Of all the questions in this column, this is the one that has stirred the most debate over the last few months. Brown has done plenty over the past year to stoke those rumors, as the wide receiver’s epic unhappiness with his role in the Philadelphia offense turned into a weekly story during the regular season. There also have been plenty of reports about the willingness of Eagles general manager Howie Roseman to hear potential offers while also clinging to the notion that Brown isn’t leaving that franchise without a massive return coming the Eagles’ way. The trade that Denver recently struck with Miami to acquire wide receiver Jaylen Waddle should be instructive here. The Broncos parted with three draft picks (a first-, third- and fourth-rounder) for Waddle, while Miami threw in a fourth-round selection to make the deal work. Any package for Brown needs to start with similar compensation, at the very least. A deal for Brown also makes more financial sense for Roseman after June 1 because the dead money will be substantially lower for Philly ($16.35 million versus $43.5 million if he is traded before that date, per Over The Cap). As far as potential partners, the Patriots are always going to be a rumored option because of Brown’s ties to New England head coach Mike Vrabel, whom he played for in Tennessee. The Las Vegas Raiders could be interesting, because they’re likely selecting Indiana quarterback Fernando Mendoza first overall and need more help at wide receiver. There surely will be others who enter the conversation, because Brown is that good, and his frustration in Philadelphia needs to come to an end.

Top draft analyst explains his Eagles pick and vision for 2026 draft – NBCSP

One of the most popular positions for Eagles in mock drafts over the last couple of months has been offensive tackle and for good reason. The Eagles’ offensive line dealt with injuries last season and future Hall of Famer Lane Johnson contemplated retirement before deciding to return for his 14th season in 2026. In his latest mock draft, NFL Network’s top draft analyst Daniel Jeremiah gave the Eagles huge tackle Kadyn Proctor from Alabama with the 23rd pick. Jeremiah was on the latest Takeoff with John Clark podcast to explain the pick and answer other questions about the Eagles’ potential approach next month. “I think getting ahead of it a little bit is something Howie (Roseman) has been really good at,” Jeremiah said. “Identifying their needs, not just where they are today but where they’re going to be in the future. And with Lane coming to the end here, and quite honestly, having some issues staying out there on the field, this gives them some insurance there long-term to be the starting right tackle.”

Former Eagles player already in prison pleads guilty to another felony – NJ.com

A former Eagles player already serving time for a federal fraud case has pled guilty to another felony. Running back Wendell Smallwood, who was drafted by the Eagles in 2016 and spent five seasons in the NFL, pled guilty on March 6 to second-degree unlawful possession of an assault firearm, the Gloucester County Prosecutor’s Office confirmed to NJ.com. As part of the plea deal, Smallwood, 32, was setenced to three years in state prison with a requirement that he serve at least one year.

Why did Philadelphia Eagles let Nakobe Dean walk in free agency? – Silver And Black Pride

Linebacker was one of the biggest needs on the Las Vegas Raiders’ roster heading into free agency. Hence, Las Vegas signed two of them: Quay Walker and Nakobe Dean. We’ve already gotten to know Walker better, so it’s time to get the skinny on Dean. Silver and Black Pride reached out to our friends at Bleeding Green Nation, and Brandon Lee Gowton was kind enough to answer a few questions about the former Philadelphia Eagle for Raider Nation.

Myles Garrett is suddenly less impossible for the Cowboys – Blogging The Boys

It would stand to reason that any trade for Garrett would have to involve both first-round picks this year and likely future capital as well. It should be noted that Dallas cannot technically trade either of their first-round picks next year as the better of them (which is a matter that is to be determined) belongs to the New York Jets by way of the Quinnen Williams trade, but they could do something like a second-round pick that becomes a first-round pick if a condition is met, and it would obviously be a slam-dunk condition to appease the hypothetical trade. Even something like 3 first-round picks feels low given Garrett’s career accomplishments, but it makes sense that the conversation would start there. A move like this would be a true all-in proposition from the Cowboys and despite the national narrative that surrounds them we haven’t really seen them do anything like that in some time. For what it’s worth… Garrett has a unique history with the Cowboys. You will recall that he literally begged them to draft him ahead of the 2017 NFL Draft where Cleveland took him number one overall. He even noted that the Cowboys could use Tony Romo (who would soon retire) as a trade piece to try and get him.

New Washington Commanders uniforms arrive next month – Hogs Haven

The Washington Commanders announced that new uniforms are coming on April 15th. They debuted their white ‘Super Bowl Era’ jerseys last season, and those will reportedly replace the Danya Snyder created white uniforms in their regular rotation. There have also been reports about a new throwback burgundy jersey that could be introduced as an alternate this season, before being worked into the regular rotation in the future. The Battle Black jerseys is not known, but they were only worn for one game last season, against the Chicago Bears in a callback attempt to their Hail Mary victory against them the previous season.

NFL Draft 2026: How far is too far for the NY Giants to trade down? – Big Blue View

We’ve been talking about the possibility of the New York Giants trading down in the 2026 NFL Draft for months now. For a brief moment, it looked like the Giants would have control of the top of the draft and the potential to get a king’s ransom in a trade down. The Giants owned the first pick in the draft, which would have given them the ability to auction off the rights to draft Fernando Mendoza. Then the Giants won their last two games against the Las Vegas Raiders and Dallas Cowboys, and slipped all the way down to fifth overall. That seemingly ended dreams of trading down for a franchise-changing haul. That said, 2025 gives us a glimmer of hope in the form of Travis Hunter. Last year it seemed like a given that the Cleveland Browns would take the dynamic two-way player. At least right up until they traded with the Jacksonville Jaguars.

Ty Simpson to the Jets? NFL Draft rumors heat up with private workout – SB Nation

We have reached that most fascinating time of the NFL Draft year. Lying season. The NFL Scouting Combine is behind us, private workouts and Top 30 visits are upon us, and teams are finalizing their boards ahead of the real thing next month. Which means it is time to push agendas, raise red flags, and shape narratives. Meaning it is time to start taking every single story with a grain of salt. The name that has dominated the NFL Draft landscape over the past week? That of Alabama quarterback Ty Simpson. While Fernando Mendoza is viewed as the consensus QB1, former NFL quarterback and respected ESPN analyst Dan Orlovsky has pushed back on that idea over the past few days, making a case in the media that it is in fact Simpson who should be viewed as the top QB on the board.

Tom Brady says he asked NFL about possible comeback – ESPN

Tom Brady says he explored the possibility of coming out of retirement and returning to the NFL, adding that the league did not “like that idea very much.” Brady, who last played in 2022 and is currently a minority owner of the Las Vegas Raiders, emphasized in a recent interview with CNBC that he is “very happily retired.” But the seven-time Super Bowl-winning quarterback also acknowledged that he asked the league about its rules pertaining to active players holding ownership stakes. “I actually have inquired, and they don’t like that idea very much,” Brady told CNBC, which published an interview excerpt Thursday. “So I’m going to leave it at that.”

We back: Phillies 5, Rangers 3 – The Good Phight

Thursday’s Opening Day game against the Texas Rangers had everything a Phillies fan could want: A Schwarbomb, an impressive debut from a rookie, filthy pitching from Cristopher Sanchez, and a way-too-interesting ninth inning. Put it all together, and the Phillies improved to 1-0 on the season with a 5-3 win.

Jalen’s 2026 Performance

There are some out there who talk like this upcoming season is a make-or-break year for Hurts. It got me thinking: what level of performance would QB1 need to have for it to be a done deal that he’s gone? Like, unanimously, without-a-doubt, “there’s no way we can go forward with this guy despite all he’s done for us” levels of bad. Where the bar?
