The Cincinnati Bengals’ scouting staff has been busy around the country keeping tabs on the workouts of a number of intriguing prospects. According to Tony Pauline of Essentially Sports, the team was recently in attendance to watch the Pro Days for the University of Texas, the University of Connecticut, and the University of Cincinnati.
For the Longhorns, a couple of intriguing linebackers were the primary focus in Anthony Hill Jr. and Trey Moore. The former largely relied on his Combine numbers, while the latter put forth other impressive numbers.
Moore is particularly intriguing, as some have him pegged as an edge player, though some think of him as a better NFL fit as a traditional linebacker. Per reports, the Bengals met with Hill at the Pro Day, with his stock seemingly hovering around the late Round 1-Early Round 2 range.
Other linebackers from the Bearcats—Jake Golday and Jack Dingle—were also of high interest on their squad’s Tuesday Pro Day. Pauline reported that a large contingent of Cincinnati coaches was on hand to see their workouts, including head coach Zac Taylor.
Golday has been getting more attention of late, and deservedly so. Pauline reports that Bearcats fan favorite, Dontay Corleone, didn’t work out on Tuesday and dropped a few pounds, down to 333 from his 240-pound weigh-in in Indianapolis.
Cincinnati wide receiver Jeff Caldwell, who wowed scouts at the Combine, also received attention from the Bengals at the event. Cincinnati’s receivers coaches were in attendance to keep an eye on his workout.
At UConn’s Pro Day, Cincinnati also had a receiver staff member on hand, per Pauline. Skyler Bell was the focus at that event for the Bengals, as he has Day 2 potential. He could provide a dynamic slot option for the already-stacked Cincinnati offense.
Based on the reports, Cincinnati appears to have eyes on both linebackers and wide receivers in Days 2 and 3. While there are a couple of other high positional needs for the team, expect the Bengals to invest in these positions, and potentially a couple of the aforementioned names from Tuesday’s workouts.
