On Wednesday afternoon, fans of the Kansas City Chiefs collectively earned a pep in their step when a social-media video hit their timelines — and if you haven’t seen it yet, allow us to brighten your day.

Just over three months removed from tearing his ACL and LCL in a Week 15 loss to the Los Angeles Chargers, Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes felt “great” enough to throw the ball around this week.
The casual five-step drop is enough to fuel the optimism Mahomes has portrayed all offseason about his anticipation to return by Week 1 of the 2026 season. The schedule is yet to be determined, but we know Week 1 of the NFL season will take place on the weekend of September 10th and extend through the 14th.
That is just under six months away from today. It’s getting harder to doubt that the two-time MVP will still be sidelined when Kansas City opens next regular season.
