In the last couple of weeks, rumors surfaced that the Dallas Cowboys were talking to the Miami Dolphins in an effort to trade for star linebacker Jordyn Brooks. I then asked the following question this past weekend:
Should the Miami Dolphins even be considering trading Jordyn Brooks at this point, given that he’s clearly one of the better players currently on the defensive roster for the team? Additionally, if you believe that the front office should be shopping Brooks based on his current value, age, or any other reason, what should be the minimum asking price for him in return?
Below are some of your thougths and answers-
davidson11 says to let one of the better players at his position go for a third. I certainly hope that they do better than that if he is traded.
It’s a full on tank. Take a 3rd for Brooks if you can get it. Someone will give a 1st for Achane.
PA phinphan says no to trading away an All-Pro unless someone offers a stupidly good package in return.

I would definitely hope not. They should not be getting rid of an All-Pro.

While I don’t feel they should be even considering it. If some other team gives a ridiculous offer that can’t be denied say a first this year and next, I guess you take it.
Ejplaya is considering another player, with his possible trade value for Achane.
If we can’t get premium trade value for achane I’m giving him a 4 yr 60 mil offer. 30-35 guaranteed. That’s fair. If someone gives me an early 2nd I’d take that though.
Finsane1 says he’s worth a whole lot.
JB worth the whole farm! FinsUp!!!
The Earl seems to only want to move him if the return is really high in value.
What’s he worth? More than he’d fetch in a trade. Brooks is the boat. Take the boat!
MiamiItaliano says we can only extend one guy, and it should be Brooks.
I think if they can only afford to extend one player, it should be Brooks. But if they want to stack picks and clear as much dead cap as they can over the next 2 years, Brooks should fetch them a first and a third
THEphinz is, I guess, all good with trading him.
Yes
Phoenix6 seems to be in favor of moving him, in hopes of getting a 1st and a 3rd in return. One would think that would get the deal done.
Should the Dolphins 🐬 consider trading Jordyn Brooks?
— This consideration will include a new contract I believe, as he is playing on the last year in ‘26 of current…. (if) they keep him.
— The Dolphins 🐬 are strapped by the cap. I see moving Brooks will happen.
Additionally, if Brooks is shopped, what should be the minimum asking price for him?
— Brooks is a pro bowl talent. I feel a mid 1st & an early 3rd would be appropriate in this year’s draft.
davidson11 says move them all in an effort to earn the top spot in the 2027 NFL Draft.
#1 overall next year is the goal. Who cares if the Dolphins get 5 wins instead of 2? Trade EVERYONE!
BurstingFireLegend would like to see Achane and Brooks sign new deals, but if not, trade them away for picks in the 2027 Draft.
I would prefer to keep Achane & Brooks. With that said, if Miami doesn’t sign either one of them to an extension, then yes trade him/them.
But here’s the thing, at this point Miami has all of the picks it needs in 2026. I would only trade for 2027 picks.
Give me a 2027 1st & 4th for Achane & a 2027 2nd & 5th for Brooks.
God420 says keep them both or trade both for a 1st and a 3rd.
Both Achane and Brooks, have been labeled foundational players. At this point, to trade them away, someone has to come with a better trade offer than what Denver offered for Waddle.
We’ll start with 2 2026 1st rounders for either one, and I’d expect at least another 3rd for Achane, and I’d take a 2027 3rd on top for Brooks, but that the baseline.
Considering that the worst part of the team last year was coaching and Quarterback, the Dolphins have already addressed it. The offense would’ve produced better if McDaniel had actually ran the offense like the run-heavy offense it was winning with, consistently.
The team has released all the high priced players who weren’t being the leaders they were paid to be, so getting Willis is a total position upgrade, and the win total of the combination of Tua and Tyreek was 1. Other than that they were both roster liabilities.
Don’t get all surprised when the team matches the win total for last year. The 2025 Dolphins were a joke and a dumpster fire, it’s not gonna take much effort to match that
Well, we do not have a consensus again on what should happen to Brooks. Some would like to see him traded away for more picks in the next couple of drafts, while others believe he is a foundational piece for this team and should be extended. As always, thank you to each of you who took the time to answer our question of the day.
