Mailbag: When will we see the Eagles spend big in free agency again? – PhillyVoice

2) What is also never discussed are the financial opportunities trading him opens up in 2027 and beyond. If the Eagles were to trade Brown today, yes, there would be a big dead money number in 2026. But there would also be major savings in 2027, 2028, and 2029, when he is scheduled to count for $133,121,609 on the cap during those three seasons combined. That’s over $44 million per season. That’s all off the books completely if they were to trade him now. The Eagles would also save $113 million in cash payouts to Brown, including $29 million in 2026. You never, ever hear that part of it when the financial ramifications of trading Brown are discussed. Anyway, I guess I went a long way to say that if the Eagles traded Brown — really whether that’s before or after June 1 — that would free up a lot of money to get contract extensions done with their young star players on defense, as well as more flexibility to make bolder moves in free agency in 2027. Adding to that, the Eagles are projected to have a fair amount of cap space in 2027 and they don’t really have to worry about losing as many good starters in free agency next offseason as they have the last two offseasons. I think they spend next offseason, and I think that trading Brown is part of that equation.

NFL Mock Draft Monday: Looking for any edge – BGN

Now that the frenetic part of free agency has come and gone we can turn our attention back to the draft. Specifically, mock drafts. The mock drafts this year are pretty boring. Which is fitting, because this draft will be relatively boring. There’s no real QB debate to be had. While there are a bunch of good WR and EDGE prospects, there are no “blue chip” prospects at those positions, or at DT and CB. The handful of blue chip prospects are at low value draft positions: running back, safety, and off ball linebacker.

Offseason Overview – Iggles Blitz

The final position to cover is the OL. This must be addressed in the draft. There aren’t good OL available via free agency. The starting line for 2026 is set, barring injury setbacks. With age and injury concerns the team must add at least one high end player for the future. Vega Ioane is the OG they could take early. There are several OTs who could make it to 23. If the Eagles go OT early, I still think they could find a good OG in the middle rounds. There is still the possibility of bringing back Fred Johnson, but he would be a band-aid. The Eagles need to add guys that can develop into future starters.

Favorite, least favorite 2026 free-agency moves for all 32 NFL teams – PFF

Favorite Move: CB Riq Woolen. The Eagles struggled to fill the void across Quinyon Mitchell at cornerback after the departure of Darius Slay. Woolen could be the perfect solution. He hit free agency at a poor time, with 2025 being the lowest-graded season (59.8) of his career. However, if he can get back to even his 2023 self, when he ranked 52nd with a 67.1 PFF overall grade, this is good business for the Eagles.

Eagles-only mock draft: Filling big needs in the trenches – NBCSP

1-23: Max Iheanachor, OT, Arizona State. It’s no secret that it’s time for the Eagles to rebuild their offensive line for the future and to find an eventual replacement for Lane Johnson. Even though Johnson is playing this season, there are plenty of good reasons to draft his replacement early so he can learn behind a future Hall of Famer just like the Eagles did with Cam Jurgens and Jason Kelce. Max Iheanachor (6-6, 321) is a fascinating prospect. Iheanachor came to the United States from Nigeria as a 13-year-old and was a late-comer to football after previously playing basketball and soccer, so he’s still considered to be a raw prospect. But he has incredible athletic tools and was a two-year starter at right tackle for the Sun Devils.

Ex-Eagles star reveals he nearly rejoined team last year before being robbed of that dream – NJ.com

After being released by the Steelers, Slay had planned to watch the Eagles’ Week 14 game against the Chargers from the sidelines and then join the team afterward, he said on the Flag On The Play podcast. Buffalo interrupted those plans. He refused to play for the Bills because he wanted to finish his career with Philadelphia. Buffalo offered to release him after playing the Eagles in Week 17, but by then it was too late. “I stopped running, stopped being in shape — I’m still in shape — but I was like, ‘Yeah, I’m done,’” Slay said. “Because I ain’t feel like going out there playing just one game and that was the last game of the year.”

The real reason the Cowboys signed QB Sam Howell – Blogging The Boys

Last week, the Cowboys made a perceived upgrade to their quarterback room by signing veteran Sam Howell and releasing Will Grier. Many have wondered if this is a sign of waning confidence in Joe Milton III’s development, but we’re going to look at it from a different angle. Given Dak Prescott’s injury history since 2020, is this more about Dallas preparing for another long absence from QB1?

RB Jeremy McNichols talked about new OC David Blough: “Everybody wanted him and we’re lucky to have him” – Hogs Haven

Discussing his expectations for the offense under new coordinator David Blough, McNichols used words like “explosive”, “unique”, and “creative”, adding that Blough “didn’t get this job for no reason; everybody wanted him and we’re lucky to have him.”

NY Giants news: New York finally adds to its defensive line in free agency – Big Blue View

The New York Giants have finally made a move in free agency to bolster their defensive line, announcing the signing of veteran defensive tackle Sam Roberts. A 6-foot-5, 300-pounder who turns 28 next month, Roberts was a sixth-round pick by the New England Patriots in the 2022 NFL Draft. He has played in 20 NFL games over four seasons with the Patriots, Carolina Panthers, and Atlanta Falcons. Roberts had the only sack of his career and two quarterback hits while playing 102 defensive snaps for the Falcons in 2025. He played in just five games before landing on injured reserve with ankle and knee injuries. Roberts played 74 of his 102 snaps at nose tackle last season.

Can ‘Tokyo Toe’ Kansei Matsuzawa kick his way to the NFL? – ESPN

WHEN KANSEI MATSUZAWA, a 19-year-old Japanese tourist, walked through the gates of the Oakland Coliseum in 2018, he did so out of curiosity. He knew little about the NFL or American football before watching the Raiders host the Los Angeles Rams that day, but by the time the game was over he knew he had found a new path in life. “The enthusiasm, the stadium, atmosphere and everything was new to me,” he said. “And I felt something: ‘I want to be an NFL player.’” Specifically, a kicker. It was an audacious dream that anyone vaguely familiar with the sport would have dismissed as next to impossible. But for a naïve first-time visitor to the United States, the odds didn’t matter. He didn’t care that no one from Japan had ever played in the NFL. He didn’t comprehend the scale — that tens of thousands of American kids grow up kicking a football, chasing the same dream, but only a select few get anywhere close to one of the 32 jobs available on any given Sunday. Two years earlier, Matsuzawa twice failed a college entrance exam that derailed his plans in life. He figured he would go to college, where he could keep playing soccer, but with college in Japan off the table, he was left directionless. “I was at rock bottom,” Matsuzawa said. “I had nothing. I didn’t want to do anything in Japan.”

If AJ Brown is traded, what is a realistic return?

I’m not here to debate the merits of trading AJ Brown vs keeping him on the roster. An engaged, healthy AJ Brown would make any roster in the NFL better and that is not debatable.

What is debatable is the return we should expect if AJ is indeed traded in 2026. I’ve seen some posts hoping for what I would consider an outlandish draft haul (two first round picks plus additional compensation). Hoping for anything in that realm is going to lead to disappointment.

For context, in 2022 Davante Adams at 29 years of age and coming off a 1553 yard, 11 TD performance was traded to the Raiders for a 1st and a 2nd round pick (picks #22 and 53). The year prior, Adams had 1374 yards receiving and 18TDs in 14 games.

This year, Jaylen Waddle, who is not of AJ Brown’s caliber, but is a year younger at 28, was traded for a late first (30) and the equivalent of an early fourth round pick (pick #105 depending on what value chart you use).

Based on the above, a realistic trade for AJ would be a 2027 1st round pick and a conditional 2027 3rd round pick that can become a 2nd round pick if certain conditions are met.

What say you? What do you think a realistic return would be should the Eagles trade AJ Brown?
