Let’s check in on the Kansas City Chiefs’ division rivals in the AFC West after the two weeks of free agency:

Last week, the Las Vegas Raiders and Los Angeles Chargers were busy signing free agents, while the Denver Broncos stayed quiet, being the only team in free agency not to make an external signing.

It was the trade market where the Broncos got active.

Denver Broncos

Finally, Denver took a swing by acquiring wide receiver Jaylen Waddle and a 2026 fourth-round pick from the Miami Dolphins. In return, Denver sent the 30th-overall pick in the 2026 draft, along with a third-rounder and a late fourth-round pick this year.

Rather than selecting a receiver with that late-first-round pick, the Broncos opted for a proven veteran in Waddle, who is coming off scoring a career-high six touchdown receptions in 2025. He stepped into a larger role last season due to Tyreek Hill’s injury and delivered when called upon.

Waddle now joins star wideout Courtland Sutton, forming a dynamic duo that could help quarterback Bo Nix elevate the passing attack next season.

The last time the Broncos selected a wide receiver in the first round was in 2020, when the organization took Jerry Jeudy out of Alabama with the 15th-overall pick. Jeudy was later traded to the Browns in March 2024.

Current draft picks

  • Second round, pick 62
  • Fourth round, pick 108 via New Orleans Saints
  • Fourth round, pick 111 via Dolphins
  • Fifth round, pick 170
  • Seventh round, pick 246
  • Seventh round, pick 256 via compensation
  • Seventh round, pick 257 via compensation

Las Vegas Raiders

“Quarterback hunter” and edge rusher Maxx Crosby spoke candidly on his podcast, “The Rush With Maxx,” about his time visiting the Baltimore Ravens last week, when he believed he was set to join the franchise.

Crosby didn’t hold back, explaining that it took Ravens general manager Eric DeCosta and head coach Jesse Minter nearly five hours to meet with him while he was already at the facility undergoing his physical. When they finally sat down, Crosby said the vibe felt off, and he was later informed the team had concerns about his medicals. Crosby underwent meniscus surgery nine weeks ago, and the Ravens questioned whether it would hold up over the remainder of his contract.

Other signings

  • Linebacker Segun Olubi
  • Guard Spencer Burford
  • Defensive tackle Thomas Booker IV

Los Angeles Chargers

Veteran defensive tackle Dalvin Tomlinson signed a one-year deal to bolster the run defense. Entering his 10th NFL season, Tomlinson was originally selected 55th overall in the 2017 NFL Draft by the New York Giants.

The Chargers ranked eighth in the NFL against the run, allowing 105.4 yards per game — an improvement from 117.5 in 2024. Known for his ability to clog running lanes, Tomlinson adds a proven presence to a defense looking to take another step forward in 2026.
