Earlier this week, we published our latest SB Nation Reacts survey, sponsored by the folks over at FanDuel Sportsbook, asking Detroit Lions fans one question: What grade do you give the Lions’ signing of C Cade Mays?
We covered the Lions’ first big signing in a variety of different articles, including:
But we felt like we were missing the fans’ perspective, so we asked the question, and you delivered the results: 92% of the vote landed with a “B” grade or above.
Let’s take a look at the comment section of our original survey for explanations on why fans voted the way they did (slightly edited for clarity):
- Toreyj01: “Honestly, this was the realistic choice for the Lions. I said so weeks ago, this was the guy I was hoping for and we got him. Pass blocks better than Linderbaum as well. The run blocking needs to improve but he will have some studs on the Line and a great OL Coach to help that along. Price was less than I expected as well. A grade for me.”
- ULTMATEpunisher007: “I give it an A-. Solid B, B+ signing, but when you consider the center market and how crazy it got early. Brad was able to get a deal that wasn’t outlandish, bumps this up to an A-. Mays is also a player who could continue to ascend the more snaps he gets. Could end up being a really solid signing in a year or two.”
- 1951Lion: “One of the best choices available, and at a much better price than the leading Centers in FA.”
- maow cat: “On a scale from Glasgow to Ragnow, Mays is closer to Ragnow.”
Throughout the year, we ask questions of the most plugged-in Detroit Lions fans and fans across the country. If you want to get these surveys emailed to you weekly, you can sign up here.
