The Miami Dolphins officially announced the release of veteran EDGE player Bradley Chubb on Wednesday — designated him a post-June 1st cut. Doing so allows the Dolphins to spread out his $23.8 million in dead cap over the next two seasons, while also saving Miami $20.3 million in cap space once June 2nd rolls around. The cut allows Chubb to sign with a team in the interim.
It turns out, the interim didn’t last very long.
Shortly after the Dolphins made the Chubb move official, he made the move north — signing with the Buffalo Bills on a 3-year deal worth $43.5 million. He joins Minkah Fitzpatrick as high profile Dolphins defenders who will join an AFC East division rival this offseason after Miami traded the safety to the New York Jets.
Chubb spent four seasons in Miami after team sent a first-round pick to the Denver Broncos to acquire his services in 2022. During his time with the Dolphins, Chubb played in 41 games, totaling 133 tackles (74 solo), 22.0 sacks, two passes defensed, nine forced fumbles and three fumble recoveries. He was named to the Pro Bowl in 2022.
The soon-to-be 30 year old will look to stay healthy in Buffalo — something that has been a bit difficult for the former number five overall draft pick of the Broncos in the 2018 NFL Draft.
