Well things start to become official at 4 PM today. But I imagine there will be plenty of discussion before then.
Last night the Baltimore Ravens backed out of their trade with the Las Vegas Raiders to send two first round picks for EDGE Maxx Crosby. A move many members of NFL front offices are not pleased about.
Now not even 24 hours later they have a deal in place with former Cincinnati Bengal Trey Hendrickson. It doesn’t take a full blown investigation to figure out what happened there.
But feel free to discuss that and everything else going on today!
If Ohio State safety Caleb Downs is still available when the Bengals select at No. 10, the team could still consider him because of how versatile he is, perhaps play him at nickel corner. However, the Bengals have praised the improvement of fellow safety Jordan Battle, who had 125 combined tackles in 2025. Duke Tobin raved about Battle at the Scouting Combine.
Another thing is certain: Yesterday’s price isn’t today’s price. The Raiders aren’t going to get two first round picks for Crosby. The market has shifted. Plenty of veteran free agents have agreed to deals elsewhere. So what will he cost? Should the Bengals be interested?
Cincinnati had the chance to sign Hendrickson to a long-term extension in each of the prior two offseasons, but that never came to fruition, and they chose not to franchise tag him in search of a trade by last week’s deadline.
The Bengals would especially not have an interest now. It was well known that Crosby had surgery and was in the middle of a recovery. But the fact Ravens doctors, and apparently Cowboys doctors, per ESPN’s Adam Schefter, didn’t like what they saw is a big deal.
Dre Greenlaw and Bobby Okereke aren’t yet available yet, but they are set to be released Wednesday afternoon at the official start of free agency. Greenlaw was a standout starter for the San Francisco 49ers for several years before a torn Achilles in Super Bowl LVIII. He also suffered a quad injury last year that took him out for the first half of his lone season with the Denver Broncos. If the Bengals are comfortable with his medical, a one-year deal makes sense.
