Steve Tisch, embroiled in the Epstein files, has reportedly filed a request with the NFL to remove himself from the ownership structure of the New York Giants. That comes according to reporting from ESPN.
Tisch is currently the Giants’ Executive Vice President and Chairman of the Board. Along with his brother Jonathan, the team’s treasurer and a board director, and his sister, Laurie, a board director, the three have requested to transfer their stakes in the team to their children’s trusts, per ESPN.
The Tisch family owns 45% of the franchise. Per ESPN, Steve Tisch, Jonathan Tisch, and Laurie Tisch own shares totaling 21.3% of the franchise. If the request is approved by the league’s Finance Committee, those shares will be transferred to their children.
Tisch’s name appears more than 400 times in the most recent batch of files released by the Department of Justice regarding convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein.
Tisch has denied wrongdoing in his correspondence with Epstein, which occurred in or around 2013.
“We had a brief association where we exchanged emails about adult women, and in addition, we discussed movies, philanthropy and investments,” Tisch said of Epstein in a statement in January. “I did not take him up on any of his invitations and never went to his island. As we all know now, he was a terrible person and someone I deeply regret associating with.”
There has been no word on a real NFL investigation into Tisch’s relationship with Epstein. Tisch has not been accused of any crimes.
