The Philadelphia Eagles finally did something in free agency!
The team and Tariq Woolen (AKA Riq Woolen) have agreed to a one-year contract worth “up to” $15 million, according to a report from NFL insider Adam Schefter. Fresh off a Super Bowl win with the Seattle Seahawks, Woolen immediately fills the need for a starting outside cornerback to replace Adoree’ Jackson in Philly as a complement to All-Pro defensive backs Quinyon Mitchell and Cooper DeJean.
Woolen played in 16 games last season, and was a starter in seven, for what was the final year of his rookie contract. The 6’4”, 205 pound cornerback recorded 41 total tackles and 12 passes defended. While he had only one interception in 2025, he has 12 in his four-year career, and had six in his rookie year alone. He’s allowed just a 70.6 passer rating (which is very good) when targeted over 64 total games played.
The Eagles were initially interested in Alontae Taylor, who signed with the Titans, so they shifted their focus to Woolen, according to a report from Jordan Schultz. Woolen should be a good addition, and he’ll bring both experience and young energy to their secondary. Exciting move!
