The New York Giants have re-signed outside linebacker Caleb Murphy, who was set to become an exclusive rights free agent. The team announced the move Tuesday afternoon.
Murphy, 6-foot-3 and 254 pounds, has played in 19 career games for the Tennessee Titans (2023-24), Los Angeles Chargers (2024-25), and Patriots (2025). He did not appear in a game with the Giants after being claimed on waivers Dec. 16.
Murphy appeared in 11 games last season with the Chargers (six) and Patriots (five), and registered seven tackles, one quarterback hit, a half-sack, and seven special teams tackles.
Murphy has played 167 defensive snaps and 296 special teams snaps in his career. He would seem to have a chance to compete for a depth/special teams role.
This is the first news on any of the Giants exclusive rights free agents or restricted free agents. That group also includes wide receiver Bryce Ford-Wheaton, linebacker Zaire Barnes, wide receiver Ryan Miller, and cornerbacks Art Green and Nic Jones.
