The trade of right tackle Tytus Howard from the Houston Texans to the Cleveland Browns on Monday might have NFL free agency implications for Jermaine Eluemunor and the New York Giants.
As part of the trade, the Browns gave Howard a three-year, $63 million extension, $21 million annually.
How do Eluemunor, who is heading to free agency, and Howard compare?
Howard, entering his age 30 season, has started all 93 regular season games he has played in during a seven-year career. Howard is historically a better pass blocker than run blocker, and did not allow a single sack in 2025 while posting a career-best 98.0 Pro Football Focus run blocking score.
Howard’s 2025 Pro Football and Sports Network Impact Score, a career-best 77.3, was 31st among offensive tackles.
Eluemunor, entering his age 31 season, has started 76 of 118 regular season games. He has been a full-time starter for the past four season. Similar to Howard, Eluemunor has been a better pass protector than run blocker during his time with the Giants.
In 2025, Eluemunor’s 79.1 Impact Score was 23rd among offensive tackles. Again similar to Howard, the score was his career-best.
The Athletic projected a market value of two years, $42 million, identical to Howard’s $21 million average annual value, for Eluemunor.
Also of note, the Kansas City Chiefs are releasing right tackle Jawaan Taylor. Giants’ offensive coordinator Matt Nagy was in Kansas City with Taylor last season.
