The NFL Combine begins this week with interviews starting on Wednesday and then athletic testing beginning on Thursday. While the Los Angeles Rams will not be attending the Combine, they will still be paying attention to the testing and medical data. Here are some players on offense that the Rams should be watching.

Quarterbacks

  • Drew Allar, Penn State
  • Taylen Green, Arkansas
  • Cole Payton, NDSU
  • Ty Simpson, Alabama

It has been reported that Ty Simpson will throw in Indianapolis at the NFL Combine. Top quarterbacks used to not throw at all at the Combine, but that has changed in recent years. While quarterbacks don’t necessarily have anything to gain from it, it’s always good to see. It also shows that Simpson doesn’t have anything to hide. For Cole Payton, this is another chance for him to compete against better competition and see how he stacks up against some of the best players in the class. The Combine is where a player like Taylen Green can shine and show off his athleticism. Drew Allar will be important to watch for the medicals.

Running Backs

  • Emmett Johnson, Nebraska
  • Jeremiyah Love, Notre Dame
  • Nick Singleton, Penn State

The Rams don’t need a running back, but there are two guys that I’ll be watching closely. It wouldn’t be surprising to see the Rams have some interest in Emmett Johnson. The Rams saw some explosiveness from Blake Corum last year, but Johnson is a legitimate home run threat. Jarquez Hunter didn’t do enough as a rookie to warrant the Rams to not consider an upgrade there. Similar to Johnson, if Jeremiyah Love is somehow there at 13, could the Rams say no? We saw what Todd Gurley did in the offense with McVay. Love could be that player.

Wide Receivers

  • Aaron Anderson, LSU
  • Chris Bell, Louisville
  • Dillon Bell Georgia
  • Skyler Bell UConn
  • Germie Bernard, Alabama
  • Denzel Boston, Washington
  • Deion Burks, Oklahoma
  • Omar Cooper Jr., Indiana
  • Jeff Caldwell, Cincinnati
  • Kevin Coleman Jr., Mizzou
  • KC Concepcion, Texas A&M
  • Chris Hilton, LSU
  • Ted Hurst, Georgia State
  • Bryce Lance, NDSU
  • Ja’Kobi Lane, USC
  • Makai Lemon, LSU
  • Carnell Tate, Ohio State
  • Brenen Thompson, Mississippi State
  • Jordyn Tyson, Arizona State
  • Jalen Walthall, Incarnate Word
  • Kaden Wetjen, Iowa

The Rams should have their eyes on the wide receivers. It wouldn’t be surprising to see them take a wide receiver with any one of their picks. Chris Bell could be an option at 29 and the medicals are going to be very important with him. The same can be said about Jordyn Tyson who has dealt with injuries throughout his career. Brenen Thompson will be someone to watch as he may run the fastest 40-yard dash in Indianapolis.

Tight Ends

  • Dallen Bentley, Utah
  • Nate Boerkircher, Texas A&M
  • Khalil Dinkins, Penn State
  • Jaren Kanak, Oklahoma
  • Marlin Klein, Michigan
  • John Michael Gyllenborg, Wyoming
  • Kenyon Sadiq, Oregon
  • Eli Stowers, Vanderbilt

While tight end may not be a position that the Rams address early, it is something that they will need to address at some point in the draft. With that said, it would not be surprising to see them take Sadiq who should test well. Stowers will be one of the more athletic tight ends in the draft while Bentley and Boerkircher are both players that I see as being potential Rams fits.

Offensive Line

  • Spencer Fano, Utah
  • Monroe Freeling, Georgia
  • Max Iheanachor, Arizona State
  • Francis Mauigoa, Miami
  • Blake Miller, Clemson
  • Micah Morris, Georgia
  • Brian Parker, Duke
  • Kadyn Proctor, Alabama
  • Keylan Rutledge, Georgia
  • Jaeden Roberts, Alabama
  • Drew Shelton, Penn State
  • Caleb Tiernan, Northwestern

This isn’t a great tackle class, but there will be some players that the Rams may consider for potential depth options. Drew Sheltn or Caleb Tiernan would make a lot of sense. While the Rams may not take a tackle in the first round, it’s still worth watching those guys. With a good performance at the Combine, Iheanachor could make his way into the first round. Brian Parker is seen as someone who could transition to center. Seeing how he tests will also be something to watch.
