NFL.com mocks ‘complete corner’ to Rams at No. 29

The Los Angeles Rams could benefit from a “complete corner” in the secondary after falling short of the Super Bowl. In his first mock draft, NFL.com’s Charles Davis mocked Clemson cornerback Avieon Terrell to the Rams at No. 29 in the 2026 NFL draft.

“Is Terrell a nickelback-only at the next level? Can he also play outside? I see a complete corner who can cover and is willing to tackle, as well.”

Terrell started 31 of 39 possible games with the Tigers, amassing 125 combined tackles, nine tackles-for-loss, 28 passes defensed and even led all cornerbacks nationally with eight forced fumbles during his three-year career. He was even a 2025 All-American and Jim Thorpe Award semifinalist.

While he isn’t an interception machine — as evidenced by his three career picks — Terrell is viewed as a steal in this year’s draft.

The Rams clearly need an overhaul at corner, and Terrell has the potential to inject the secondary with the confidence boost it needs. Plus, if he’s anywhere as good as his brother, Avieon could be a quality, immediate starter for Los Angeles.

ESPN analyst Jordan Reid even compared Terrell to Chiefs’ All-Pro and two-time Super Bowl champion CB Trent McDuffie.

Terrell has a good nose for the ball with an innate ability to create havoc on a play at any given time. His instincts are quite impressive for someone projected to be a late first-rounder. After watching some of his highlights, those abilities truly pop out on tape, along with his sneaky strength that was useful in creating negative plays.

In an early regular season game against Georgia Tech last season, Terrell ran over a Yellow Jackets tight end to reach the quarterback and knock his pass backward. As the announcers in the clip said, you don’t see many cornerbacks do that to opposing TEs, speaking to the intensity with which he plays the game.

L.A. truly doesn’t have much work to do this offseason, given its few roster weaknesses. However, the Rams can benefit from getting younger players in the secondary, similar to their approach to the defensive line following Aaron Donald’s retirement.

Avieon Terrell will be linked to Los Angeles from now until April, and for good reason, as he’s everything the team could possibly want at cornerback. A “complete corner” could be just what the Rams need to get over the hump and reach the Super Bowl at SoFi Stadium next February.
