The New York Giants have already lost an assistant coach off the 31-person staff head coach John Harbaugh announced on Friday.
Matt Robinson, hired by Harbaugh as assistant defensive line coach, is heading to the Las Vegas Raiders as the team’s secondary coach.
Robinson worked for five seasons under Harbaugh with the Baltimore Ravens. During that time he filled positions as assistant defensive line coach and then outside linebackers coach.
The Raiders, with new head coach Klint Kubiak, recently named Rob Leonard as defensive coordinator. Leonard’s name should be familiar to Giants fans. He worked with the Giants as a defensive assistant and then as assistant outside linebackers coach from 2013-2018. Leonard was outside linebackers coach in Baltimore in 2022, where he became familiar with Robinson.
Adam Schefter’s report said the Giants “supported the move,” which is obviously an advancement in responsibility for Robinson.
So, Harbaugh has a little more work to do to fill out his staff before turning his full attention to everything else.
