When it comes to succession, people are usually talking about the Roy family, or who will be the heir to Matthew Stafford for the Los Angeles Rams? I wrote a week or so ago that eyes were on Stafford until he got his contract, well he got his contract, so now I guess we need to talk about what the Rams do after this year?
My advice, take the succession talk in stride, L.A. has their man for 2026, and if last year was any indication, as long as the Rams build around him correctly, they’ll have a chance at the Super Bowl.
They may not win, but they’ll have a chance, and most teams just want a chance.
Of course, the Rams should plan for the future, but that doesn’t mean they can’t build for the present to.

Shocking NFL rumors could plop an ideal Rams QB successor right in their laps (ramblinfan)
“New seasons in the NFL translate into a new Rams roster, a new schedule, and a new host of problems. One such problem is the succession plan at the quarterback position. Even as veteran quarterback Matthew Stafford earned MVP honors, the team must define a succession plan for the ever-vital quarterback role.
One possible option to solidify the position comes on the heels of NFL rumors reported by NFL insider Ian Rapoport. In the report, he speculates that the Arizona Cardinals may release quarterback Kyler Murray. Should that happen, Los Angeles could be interested in his services, particularly after hiring his former head coach, Kiff Kingsbury, to the coaching staff.“
Rams 2026 Draft Prospect Profile: Cade Klubnik (QB, Clemson) (theramswire)
“This year’s incoming class of quarterback prospects is not drawing much excitement aside from Fernando Mendoza, who is expected to be the first overall pick. So while the Rams likely won’t be clamoring to select a quarterback in the first round, they could certainly do their homework on the signal-callers who could hear their name called in the other six rounds, which includes Cade Klubnik out of Clemson.”
Where Rams Stand in Post-Super Bowl LX Power Rankings (si.com)
“The Rams will bring back the core guys next season as they look to be better next season. Head coach Sean McVay and general manager Les Snead will look to put together a roster that is better than the one they had last season.
This team does have holes on its roster, and getting the right fits will go a long way toward getting back to the NFC Championship game and winning the Super Bowl in their own Stadium once again. It will all be on the Rams to make it happen.“
