Just one month since their final regular season game of the 2025 NFL season, the Miami Dolphins already look a lot different than they have in recent years. They hired a new general manager in Jon-Eric Sullivan after parting ways with longtime general manager Chris Grier. In doing so, they also sent head coach Mike McDaniel packing — replacing him with former Green Bay Packers defensive coordinator Jeff Hafley.
Another longtime Dolphins staple could soon be finding a new home as well.

On Sunday morning, renowned NFL insider Adam Schefter of ESPN reported the Dolphins will attempt to trade quarterback Tua Tagovailoa this offseason. Schefter is also reporting that Miami is willing to pay down a portion of the former first-round pick’s salary, but says, “the money makes it challenging.”
Tagovailoa signed a four-year, $212.1 million extension with the Dolphins in 2024, and the team still owes him $54 million guaranteed in 2026.
Luckily for the Dolphins, quarterbacks are always a hot commodity, and plenty of teams could be looking for new signal-callers this offseason. Schefter lists Miami, the Arizona Cardinals, New York Jets, Atlanta Falcons, Cleveland Browns, Pittsburgh Steelers and Minnesota Vikings as teams who could be in the mix for a new quarterback this offseason.
The Dolphins have obvious connections to Packers’ backup, Malik Willis. Will their familiarity with the player help facilitate a deal when the time comes? We will soon find out as NFL free agency begins next month. But for now, Miami’s new decision makers will reportedly be steadily working the phone lines in order to find a new home for their highly paid, highly drafted, yet highly flawed quarterback, Tua Tagoavailoa.
