The New York Giants are adding a former Baltimore Ravens offensive coordinator to their staff, after all. Only, it isn’t the one head coach John Harbaugh had anticipated bringing to New Jersey.
The Giants will reportedly add Greg Roman to their coaching staff, per Charlotte Carroll of The Athletic.
Harbaugh had hoped to add Todd Monken, his coordinator in Baltimore the last three seasons, in that role with the Giants. Monken, though, accepted the Cleveland Browns’ head coaching job. Harbaugh filled that role by hiring former Chicago Bears head coach Matt Nagy.
Roman coached with Harbaugh in Baltimore from 2017-2022, and was offensive coordinator from 2019-2022. Roman resigned after the 2022 season. He then spent 2024 and 2025 as Jim Harbaugh’s offensive coordinator for the Los Angeles Chargers before being fired.
Roman had interviewed for the New York Jets offensive coordinator job that went to Frank Reich.
Roman began his NFL coaching career in 1995. His role with the Giants is still to be determined, but he is known for his work in the run game. Perhaps that means a role along the lines of offensive run game coordinator.
