Simmons likes Tennessee’s chances against the Miami Dolphins offensive line on Monday Night.
The Tennessee Titans (0-3) have outscored the Miami Dolphins (1-2) 62-30 in their last two matchups, but both teams enter Week 4 of the 2024 NFL season facing an identity crisis. With a combined 1-5 record, both hope to turn things around under the Monday night spotlight.
Searching for their first win of the 2024 season, the Titans topped Miami 28-27 in Week 11 on Monday Night Football last year. In that game, they escaped defeat by erasing a 14-point deficit with less than three minutes remaining.
After sacking quarterback Tua Tagovailoa five times the last time these teams met, two-time Pro Bowl defensive tackle Jeffery Simmons feels the battle in the trenches, starting with former teammate and current Dolphins center Aaron Brewer, is one the Titans defense hopes to win.
Jeffery Simmons said be likes the #Titans chances with he and T’Vondre Sweat going against Aaron Brewer. Simmons said Brewer is a fiesta player but there are some things he remembered from practicing vs him that show on film now. pic.twitter.com/HwSWBr7xRJ

“I practiced against Brew. I know him. He’s quick going lateral. He’s a guy that I feel good about our nose tackle lined up over him, especially with his play strengths,” Simmons told ESPN’s Turron Davenport. “I’ll be able to tell [T’Vondre Sweat] a couple things throughout the week that, when I practiced against Brew, that I saw in Brew that we still see on film.”
The Tennessee defense has recorded seven sacks through three games, while the Seahawks sacked Miami’s quarterbacks six times for 46 yards last week. However, PFF credits Miami’s offensive line with allowing just five of the team’s 11 sacks through three weeks.
Brewer, a former Texas State Bobcat, has not allowed a sack and has only given up three quarterback pressures since signing a three-year contract with Miami this offseason.
“Brew is a feisty player — that’s the reason why he’s in this league,” Simmons continued. “He’s good at what he does and he’s good at the type of offense [the Dolphins] run — they run a lot of the outside runs.
“That’s what he does best — try get to on the outside, get to the linebackers and stuff of that nature.”
Given Brewer’s expected impact in the ground game, a primetime matchup against a Tennessee defense allowing 124 rushing yards per game could be key to snapping Miami’s two-game losing streak.
