Good morning, New York Giants fans!

Other Giant observations
As the Giants seek a new head coach — their fifth since two-time Super Bowl champion Tom Coughlin’s departure 10 years ago — players are welcoming the idea of a strict leader after going 20-40-1 under the lenient Brian Daboll, who was fired in November midway through his fourth season. Playing for Bill Belichick and Mike Tomlin wasn’t easy, stated Gunner Olszewski.
“It was hard as hell, and it sucked every day,” Olszewski said of his three seasons in New England. “That made Sunday not suck. I think everybody who played for (Belichick) would tell you the same thing. Wednesday, Thursday, Friday sucked, and you get to Sunday, and it was easy….You tell me, what do you think this team needs? Because losing sucks ass. If it means that it’s going to be hard, but winning on Sunday is the best feeling in the world — guys here have been a part of a lot of losing seasons. They’d do a lot to win some games.”
What separates Mike McCarthy from other ‘player’s coaches’ as he makes bid for Giants job | New York Post
The incomparably sarcastic Chandler Bing once compared a fellow “Friends” character complaining about choosing between two gorgeous women to having a wallet too small for his $50 bills and diamond shoes too tight to wear.
That’s how Giants diehards should feel hearing their Packers and Cowboys counterparts whine about making too many early-round playoffs exits on Mike McCarthy’s watch.
New York Giants: Kevin Stefanski. While Stefanski didn’t get great results with rookie quarterbacks Dillon Gabriel and Shedeur Sanders this past season, he was also working with an injury plagued offensive line and one of the league’s worst receiving corps. The two-time Coach of the Year would probably have much more success with Dart and New York’s supporting cast.
The Giants will probably make their run at Harbaugh, who has had more consistent success than Stefanski, plus a Super Bowl on his resume. The prediction here, though, is that they circle back to Stafanski in an effort to get the most out of Dart and a young offensive group.
New York Giants: John Harbaugh. Harbaugh can probably choose wherever he wants to coach in 2026, so a lot will be based on his personal preference and how much cash he’s getting. But, if I were him, the Giants look like the team with the best situation other than his old team. Sure, the Falcons have a lot of great skill players, but finding a quarterback is something that never happens for some teams. As long as Harbaugh believes Dart has the ability to lead a team into the playoffs, I see the Giants getting their man.
Stefanski was the first candidate interviewed and has strong support within the organization. Had kicker Tyler Loop not ended the Ravens’ season, sources said Stefanski could have emerged as a frontrunner by the end of the week.
The Giants are impressed with what Stefanski accomplished in difficult circumstances in Cleveland and believe he could build a sustainable winner in New York. League sources believe the Giants are unlikely to move forward with Stefanski until they know definitively whether Harbaugh is attainable.
NFL Wild Card games should remind Giants that QB means everything | New York Daily News
But a centerpiece of their hire has to be the coach’s plan to develop Jaxson Dart, his track record with quarterbacks, who will be calling Dart’s plays and how the incoming staff evaluates quarterbacks — since this organization continues to land top 10 picks.
Because while simply returning to relevance as a franchise is their most obvious need, the games in this league still come down to making a big play late in a close game. And getting the right quarterback to play the right way at the right time is how NFL teams win in 2025.
Dart’s aim for 2026
Kreiter tweeted over the weekend, “I’m tired of saying it so often and it hurts more and more this time of the year, but I miss playing football already! Wish we were still in the fight. Year 11 loading soon!!!!”
2026 NFL Mock Draft: Fernando Mendoza goes No. 1 overall | PFF
5. New York Giants: WR Carnell Tate, Ohio State. While the Titans refused to surround Ward with more talent with their top pick, the Giants refuse to do the same with Jaxson Dart and give him Tate here. His 88.6 PFF grade is fourth among all FBS wide receivers this year, while his 151.8 passer rating when targeted leads all wideouts in America. Tate would give New York a true X-receiver that’d pair very nicely with Malik Nabers once he recovers from his torn ACL.
