New York Giants position coaches have reportedly been told to “take some time off for a couple weeks” as the organization goes through the process of hiring a new head coach.
The Giants, of course, are expected to begin lining up interviews for their head coaching vacancy as soon as Sunday’s season finale against the Dallas Cowboys is over. Interviews with candidates not currently employed by an NFL team, or with current head coaches who lose their jobs after Sunday, could begin next week.
Dan Duggan of The Athletic reported that he believes all current Giants position coaches are under contract through next season. That means whoever the next head coach is would have the option of keeping or replacing those coaches.
Offensive line coach Carmen Bricillo, considered by many to have done an excellent job with a line that has played well this season, told media that he would like to stay.
“I serve at the pleasure of ownership, the general manager and the head coach,” Bricillo said. “If they want me here, they’ve got me.”
