This game at the beginning of the year looked like a marquee matchup. The luster is gone, but it’s the last Minnesota Viking football we’ll enjoy for eight months. The team has finished the season on a hot streak and hopes to keep that momentum going. J.J. McCarthy sounds like he’ll be ready to go. Justin Jefferson will be looking to get over the 1,000 yard mark for the season. The Packers are limping into the playoffs literally and figuratively. They plan on resting their starters, so I don’t anticipate much fight from the NFC 7 seed.
Series Record: 60-67-3
Home Record: 32-31
Streak: L1
The first meeting of these two teams was an abysmal performance from the Vikings offense. 145 total yards of offense with 3 turnovers and an embarrassing L. It effectively ended the playoff hopes of the team. This matchup is different. The Packers are locked into the 7 seed. The Vikings are “fighting” to be the best team left out and 3rd in the division. I don’t think the Packers are going to put much effort into this. McCarthy will be trying to prove he deserves to be the presumptive starter going into next year. Justin Jefferson will be motivated to put up some yards early. The defense will continue their roll. It’s potentiall Harrison Smith’s last game, so they’ll want to show out a bit. The Vikings win this easily.
Vikings 27 – Packers 10
