Eagles Question of the Day:

It’s Eagles game day! What’s the top thought on your mind? Head over to The Feed and weigh in with your answer and explanation!

Let’s get to the Philadelphia Eagles news and links …

2025 NFL playoff hunt: Buying and selling 18 potential Super Bowl contenders – NFL.com

SELL: Let’s pump the brakes on the Eagles’ offensive resurgence for now. Yes, it’s been encouraging to see an underwhelming unit erupt for 60 points and 390 rushing yards in the last two games. The reality is those numbers came against the Raiders and Commanders, two of the worst teams in the league. We probably won’t even learn that much in the next couple weeks — Philadelphia will face another bad run defense in Buffalo in week 17 before a rematch with Washington in the season-finale – and that’s the problem. If there’s one thing that should be learned by watching the Eagles already this season, it’s to not trust your eyes at any moment. There have been too many times when it’s worth believing that offense was finding its way, only to see more inconsistency emerge later. The question the Eagles need to answer is whether they can rely on the same formula that led them to a championship last year, which involved putting the offense on the shoulders of running back Saquon Barkley. He’s now had two 100-yard games in the last three weeks so that’s a positive sign, especially with his O-line so banged up. The Eagles defense also has the potential to get hot at the right time because defensive coordinator Vic Fangio can scheme with the best of them. But let’s be honest: Something has been off with this team for months. Maybe the Eagles can change that by flipping a switch, but it’s never wise to count on something like that. They broke the 21-year streak of teams not repeating as NFC East champs. Winning a second straight Super Bowl is a whole different type of challenge.

Eagles rooting guide for NFL Week 17 games – BGN

PHILADELPHIA EAGLES at BUFFALO BILLS: With a win over the Bills, the Eagles will clinch being no lower than the No. 3 seed (if they don’t already clinch as much in the 1:00 PM window by the Carolina Panthers losing to the Seattle Seahawks). An Eagles win also keeps their hopes of the No. 2 seed alive going into Sunday night’s game between the San Francisco 49ers and Chicago Bears. Not to mention an Eagles win in Buffalo could be a really nice confidence booster for the team and their fans alike. Go Birds.

Dallas Goedert start or sit: Week 17 fantasy football advice – SB Nation

Start or sit in Week 17? Sit. The Bills have shut down opposing tight ends this season, limiting them to 493 receiving yards and three touchdowns to the tune of 5.0 fantasy points per game. If you have confidence that Goedert can buck this and carry you over the finish line in your championship game, go right ahead. Otherwise, I’d think about other options with more favorable matchups this week before sticking with the veteran.

Buffalo Bills release WR Mecole Hardman Jr., sign TE Keleki Latu – Buffalo Rumblings

With tight ends Dalton Kincaid and Dawson Knox both listed as questionable due to knee injuries, it’s not a great sign that the Bills signed Latu to the active roster. The signing suggests that at least one of the Bills’ top two tight ends is likely to miss tomorrow’s game. Inactive players will be released 90 minutes before kickoff on Sunday, so we’ll know for sure at approximately 2:55 p.m. EST.

Just exactly how explosive is the Bills offense the Eagles will face Sunday? – NBCSP

The Bills are ranked 3rd with 373 yards per game, 1st with 159 rushing yards per game, 4th with 7.5 yards per pass play, 4th in first downs, 4th on third down and 3rd in scoring. It all starts with Allen, who is having another monster season with 25 touchdown passes, 69 percent completion percentage and a 103.3 passer rating, which trails only Matthew Stafford (112.1), Drake Maye (108.5) and Jared Goff (107.0). He’s also rushed for 552 yards with a 5.3 average. Allen 82-32 over the last seven seasons with 210 TD passes, 82 INTs and close to 5,000 rushing yards. What makes him so special? “Just his size, his speed, his instincts, when it becomes a scramble game, what he can accomplish,” Fangio said. “He’s hard to tackle. He’s so big and elusive. He’s a real dude.” Since Allen became a full-time starting quarterback in 2019, the Bills have the 2nd-best record in football, behind only the Chiefs. They’re 11-4 this year, their 7th consecutive 10-win season and 7th consecutive playoff season. In nine years under Sean McDermott, the former Eagles secondary coach and defensive coordinator, they’ve only missed the playoffs once.

’Mr. Eligible’: The growing fraternity of NFL sixth O-linemen – ESPN

MATT PRYOR: Don’t count Pryor among the offensive linemen who’d like to catch a pass. “No. I’m good on that,” Pryor said. “Especially with tape on your hands and everything, I’m good. I go out there and block and sell whatever. I don’t want the ball.” Pryor has done a little bit of everything in the league since being selected by the Eagles in the sixth round in 2018. Prior to rejoining the Eagles this season, Pryor spent time with the Indianapolis Colts, San Francisco 49ers and Chicago Bears and made starts at every position but center. This season, though, Pryor is the Eagles’ sixth offensive lineman. The Eagles get the most bang for their jumbo buck using Pryor on run plays, topping the league with a whopping 7.4 yards per rush on designed rush plays with an extra offensive lineman. In the Week 16 win against the Commanders, Pryor came on the field in the Eagles’ jumbo package and lined up to the outside of left tackle Jordan Mailata. He helped spring running back Tank Bigsby for a score. Pryor wound up reporting as eligible six times in the 29-18 win, including two plays before Bigsby’s score when he lined up on the right side, and Saquon Barkley ripped off a 48-yard run off the left tackle.

NFL Weather Report for The 2025-26 Season – RotoWire

EAGLES vs. BILLS: Rain and snow showers are expected for Sunday afternoon’s game at Highmark Stadium. Moderate winds with strong gusts blowing diagonally across the field will make passing and kicking difficult, especially with the wet conditions.

Eagles-Commanders late-game fight results in six fines – PFT

For the Eagles, guard Tyler Steen received a pair of $8,435 fines; one for “striking/kicking/tripping/kneeing” and the other for taking a swing at an opponent. For the Commanders, defensive tackle Javon Kinlaw was fined $20,288 for taking a swing, safety Quan Martin was fined $11,572 for “striking/kicking/tripping/kneeing,” safety Will Harris was fined $11,593 for a facemask, and cornerback Mike Sainristil was fined $9,725 for “striking/kicking/tripping/kneeing.

Where Are They Now? LB Marc Woodard – PE.com

There are instances when four and a half weeks can seem like an eternity. That’s an experience rookie linebacker Marc Woodard had after being among the last players cut by Pittsburgh less than a week before the 1993 season opener and signing to be on the Eagles’ practice squad after five games. “I’ll be honest with you. I was young and green and I didn’t have a whole lot of guidance. I just kind of thought, ‘Well, that was my dream and it’s over,’” Woodard said. “I had like three classes left to finish my master’s degree (at Mississippi State University), and so I had made up my mind that I was just going to go back to school and finish that and just try to move on with life in some kind of way. “And then the phone rings and it’s the Eagles calling, so the dream is back alive again.” After making his way to Philadelphia, Woodard walked into the locker room for the first time and found himself looking face-to-face with Eagles history.

Hot Schotts: Cowboy coaching staff a real life Jekyll/Hyde situation – Blogging The Boys

One other area in which Schottenheimer has grown is his approach to fourth downs. The rookie head coach admitted earlier this year he’s more conservative than predecessor Mike McCarthy when it comes to fourth-down aggression, and it showed. Over the first 13 weeks of the season, Dallas was 22nd in optimal fourth-down rate, which measures how often a team goes for it when they should. But he’s changed even that approach. In the last four games, Dallas is fifth in optimal fourth-down rate, having opted for the kick (either field goal or punt) just twice when models supported going for it. The most recent game against the Commanders even saw Schottenheimer go for it at times when the model “recommended” a toss-up between the field goal and going for it. Perhaps that’s a reflection of Schottenheimer accounting for the depressingly low likelihood of his defense getting stops, which means it’s more of a situational thing than a real philosophy shift, but it’s an adjustment either way. And it’s encouraging to see a head coach who’s willing to change how he approaches the game when things aren’t working.

NY Giants-Raiders preview: Jaxson Dart narratives, No. 1 pick, Joe Schoen – Big Blue View

I still believe that whether or not Schoen stays or goes as the general manager is a 50-50 proposition heading into the final two games. The record the past three seasons has been terrible, and you can point to a long list of mistakes if you are building the “Joe Must Go” case. No argument there. My belief, though, is that ownership does not want to fire Schoen. They will if they have to, or if the coach they decide they want, feels he needs a different GM, but Schoen will stay unless ownership feels there isn’t any other choice but to let him go. Schoen is believed to have a solid relationship with ownership, and that matters. John Mara’s health might factor into how much change the organization wants to undergo. If the narrative that the Giants were poorly coached and have more talent than they showed wins the day, that also works in Schoen’s favor. Before Sunday’s game against the also 2-13 Las Vegas Raiders, I don’t know how this will turn out.
