Yes, you read that right.

The Miami Dolphins searching for their new franchise quarterback, and that quarterback may (heavy, heavy emphasis on that word) just be Lamar Jackson of the Baltimore Ravens.

According to Mike Preston of the Baltimore Sun, who has written for the paper since 1983, the Ravens and Jackson are reportedly “at a crossroads” in their relationship.

In Preston’s article, he says that the Ravens have grown increasingly frustrated with Jackson’s lack of professionalism. At least, that’s how the organization sees it. Jackson reportedly has fallen asleep in team meetings, stays up late playing video games, and follows a different set of rules to the rest of the team. Preston also says that Ravens coach John Harbaugh has “become tired of Jackson”, and that the relationship between the two is as strained as it’s ever been.

In other words, either Jackson goes, or Harbaugh goes.

But, how do the Dolphins factor in?

Well, Jackson is a south Florida native, having attended Boynton Beach high school in Palm Beach County, Florida. Jackson has also gone on record saying that although he grew up as a Dallas Cowboys fan, the Dolphins were his second team. Finally, Preston explicitly says that even today, Jackson would “love to play” for the Dolphins.

Now, managing Lamar’s contract, Tua’s contract, and figuring out which draft picks to send over would certainly be a headache. But still, it’s a move that the Dolphins absolutely need to discuss at some length. There are only a handful of quarterbacks in the league who possess Lamar’s skillset and resume. If there’s even a sliver of interest from Jackson’s camp, then you do what you can to make it happen.

Lamar is due to make over $50 million dollars in 2026 and 2027, similar to Tua’s deal. Preston suggests that bundling Tua, two 1st-round picks, and maybe two 2nd-round picks would be enough to make it happen. Alas, I will leave that conundrum to the Dolphins’ new general manager, whoever that may be.

You can read Preston’s full article here, on the Baltimore Sun’s website.
