On Wednesday, the Kansas City Chiefs used their official X account to announce that they are placing injured quarterback Patrick Mahomes on the team’s Reserve/Injured list, officially ending his season after he underwent surgery for the torn ACL he suffered in Sunday’s 16-13 loss to the Los Angeles Chargers.
We have placed QB Patrick Mahomes on Reserve/Injured.
We have signed Practice Squad player DT Zacch Pickens to an active roster contract.

The team also announced that it is filling Mahomes’ now-vacated roster spot by activating practice squad defensive tackle Zacch Pickens to the 53-man roster. To take Pickens’ place on the practice squad, the team is re-signing wide receiver Jimmy Holiday, who now begins his third stint on the taxi squad this season.
But it appears that more roster changes are on the way. Kansas City has designated rookie tight end Jake Briningstool and veteran cornerback Nazeeh Johnson for return from injured reserve. This opens a 21-day window in which they can practice with the team. Either could now be activated to the roster before any of the three remaining games.
