Miami Dolphins RB De’Von Achane Expected to play Monday Night vs. Steelers

The Miami Dolphins have won five of their last six games and have played inspiring football over the last several weeks. A large part of the team’s recent success and the only reason they have, like any life left in the AFC playoff picture, is because of their star running back De’Von Achane.

Achane has been a beast this season for Miami, eclipsing 1000 yards on the ground for the first time in his career. The 24-year-old RB only needs 11 carries to surpass his career-high of 203 carries, and has already broken his career high in rushing yards (1,126 yards) and is one touchdown away from tying his career high in rushing TDs in just 13 games this season.

Unfortunately, a heavier workload means there’s an increased risk that Miami’s back could be hurt, which is exactly what happened when he got banged up at the end of last week’s 34-10 win over the New York Jets. Miami used Jaylen Wright and Ollie Gordon II to close out the game — leaving many left wondering whether or not Achane could play vs. the Steelers.

For most of the week, Achane’s status was up in the air, but during his Saturday morning press conference, Dolphins head coach Mike McDaniel assured everyone that the team would have their most prolific playmaker. Suggesting that he’s “ready to roll” barring any setbacks.

(Note: McDaniel said the team would be practicing in the cold Pittsburgh weather later tonight to get acclimated with the conditions. If there weren’t any setbacks, the team would have their star players for the primetime battle in Pittsburgh.)

Achane wasn’t the only key starter that showed up on the injury report this week. Starting cornerback Jack Jones and pass-rusher Chop Robinson showed up on Miami’s injury report throughout the week. Like Achane, Jones and Robinson are expected to suit up Monday Night vs. the Steelers.

Kickoff is set for Monday, December 15th at 8:15 PM ET.

What are your thoughts on this must-win matchup vs. the Pittsburgh Steelers on Monday Night Football? Do you think the weather will cause any issues for Miami’s warm-weather team? How do you think a less-than-100% De’Von Achane will fare? Do you still believe this team can make the postseason?!?! Let us know in the comments section below.
