The Philadelphia Eagles opened the 21-day practice window for rookie offensive tackle Cameron Williams to return from injured reserve, according to an official team announcement.
This development comes one day after the practice window for Myles Hinton expired, which means Hinton will remain on IR for the rest of the season. The Eagles previously let the practice window for Willie Lampkin expire instead of activating him to the roster.
The guess here is that Williams will also practice during this window before ultimately being shut down for the season. That much could change if the Eagles suffer multiple offensive tackle injuries and they feel the need to activate Williams. But I don’t think they really want to be counting on the 22-year-old to play this season.
So, why even open the window for Williams if they don’t really plan on activating him? Well, players on injured reserve aren’t permitted to practice. And Williams is considered to be a developmental player who could benefit from getting more reps. Therefore, this move is likely less about the 2025 season and more about a long-term lens.
