Detroit Lions vs. Dallas Cowboys first half live discussion

The Detroit Lions got a nice little surprise prior to their big “Thursday Night Football” showdown with the Dallas Cowboys. No, Frank Ragnow didn’t un-un-un-retire. But Amon-Ra St. Brown, presumed to be sidelined for a game or two, is ACTIVE despite an ankle injury suffered in the first quarter of the Thanksgiving Day game against the Green Bay Packers. He’s unlikely to be 100 percent, but he gives Detroit their best receiving weapon in a game they may need to keep up with a high-powered Cowboys offense.

Dak Prescott and company are averaging 29.2 points per game—good for second best in the league. And with some late additions to their defense at the trade deadline—plus some improving health—Dallas’ defense is starting to hit its stride at the right time. Cowboys defensive tackle Quinnen Williams will give Jahmyr Gibbs all he can handle in the run game, but Dallas will be short pass rusher Jadeveon Clowney, who is out with an injury.

This Thursday night game has huge playoff implications. The 7-5 Lions are a couple games out of a spot right now, and the 6-5-1 Cowboys are a half-step behind them. Loser of this game will see their playoff odds drop to 20% or less. Winner could see their chances jump closer to 50%, depending on your probability model of choice.
