Well, this one isn’t fun. The Indianapolis Colts are fading fast and are now headed to the one place in the NFL they simply can’t win. The Colts haven’t won in Jacksonville since 2014, and this looking like less and less of the year they get the job done. The Jaguars are on the climb while the Colts are on the decline. They are now like two ships passing in the night in the standings as the Jaguars have taken over the AFC South lead. The Colts can take it right back with a huge road win. FanDuel Sportsbook sees this as a tight one and somewhat shockingly puts the Colts as favorites at -1.5 in the spread.
The money line is -130 while the over/under comes in at 47.5.
The Colts had a golden opportunity to make some space in the AFC South and get back to their winning ways against the Texans at Lucas Oil. The offense was sluggish, and the defense struggled to get off the field on third downs. Losing Sauce Gardner early didn’t help and neither did some questionable calls by the officials. Although the Colts were victims of a phantom pass interference call that led to a Houston touchdown, there was still plenty of time to salvage this one. Another missed extra point proved to be a difference maker as the Colts couldn’t convert a fourth down when they needed a touchdown to take the lead.
The Jaguars got their cupcake game as they visited the Titans. The Titans came out early putting three on the board, but that was all the excitement. Up 18-3 at half, it only got better for the Jaguars as they were the only score in the second half. Trevor Lawrence may never truly be what he was hyped to be coming out of college, but he has his team in control of the division and is leading this team on a three-game winning streak. It could have been five without a collapse to the Texans, but it is still enough to be at the top of the divisional standings. The Titans have proven to be the best gift in the league. The Jaguars will be happy to have one more against them to finish the year.
The season is in jeopardy, but all hope is not lost. If the Colts can win in Jacksonville, it would be huge. The inverse would be just as devastating. The offense needs to recapture some of its early season magic. It currently looks lost, and Shane Steichen appears outmatched at times. Streaks can be broken. The Colts need to march into Jacksonville and take the win. It could ultimately save their season.
