Lions coach Dan Campbell offered the latest on Frank Ragnow’s injury via his Tuesday morning radio appearance.

On Monday afternoon, Detroit Lions coach Dan Campbell addressed the media and provided updates on a laundry list of players, including Marcus Davenport, Derrick Barnes, Sam LaPorta, and Brian Branch, among others. What we didn’t know at the time was that Lions All-Pro center Frank Ragnow was also reportedly dealing with a partially-torn pectoral, so Campbell didn’t offer an update on him.

However, during a radio appearance on 97.1 The Ticket Tuesday morning, Campbell was asked about the outlook for Ragnow this week against the Seattle Seahawks. Campbell didn’t offer much insight, other than the fact that Ragnow wants to play.

“First of all, Frank is stubborn. He’s hard-headed Frank. He’s tough, he’s stubborn, and so he wants to go and he always wants to go,” Campbell said. “But this is something we’re still talking about right now. I’m not entirely sure what we’re going to do with him. A lot of it is where’s he going to feel by middle or end of the week?

“But he does have something in there, and he did play through some of this last week. We’ll do what’s best for him and what’s best for us in the moment, ultimately. But you know how I feel about Frank, we all do. Appreciate the heck out of him. He’s tough, man.”

NFL Network said that Ragnow was reportedly week-to-week, and partially torn pectoral muscles have a pretty wide range of recovery time, depending on the grade level of the tear. So it looks like we’ll simply have to wait a little longer to see if Ragnow misses Week 4—or anything beyond that.

In the meantime, the Lions have a couple of options at center. They could move Graham Glasgow back there from his current left guard position, or they could promote Michael Niese from the bench to play center. Niese mostly repped at guard this offseason, but he also cross trained at center throughout camp.
