We interrupt our postgame coverage of the Philadelphia Eagles losing to the Dallas Cowboys with news about an upcoming opponent.
Former Eagles head coach Chip Kelly will NOT be making his first return to Lincoln Financial Field in Week 15 after all; the Las Vegas Raiders reportedly fired their offensive coordinator on Sunday night.
Kelly was overseeing a Raiders offense that entered Week 12 with the third-fewest offensive points per game (15.2). Las Vegas then only scored 10 points (including one garbage time touchdown) in a loss to the Cleveland Browns.
Safe to say that hiring Kelly didn’t work out the way that Pete Carroll envisioned it would. Also safe to say that nobody in Philly is really surprised by this development.
That being said, Eagles fans who still harbor disdain for Kelly won’t get to see him get shut down by Vic Fangio in a few weeks. That’s a bummer.
It’s also likely that his replacement will be better than he is, which isn’t a good development for the Eagles. But the Raiders might still be terrible anyway.
