The Philadelphia Eagles are now 8-2 heading into their Week 12 matchup against the Dallas Cowboys (4-5-1) on Sunday afternoon.
This will be the second time these rivals have faced off this year, with the Eagles beating the Cowboys in Philadelphia back in Week 1, 24-20. Still, a lot has changed for both teams since their season opener.
For the Eagles, they’ve brought back and added a few key defensive players, and are playing absolutely lights out on that side of the ball. Things aren’t going so well for the Eagles offense, however, with the group being uneven at best through 10 games. Still, the team continues to find ways to win, and it’s in large part due to Vic Fangio’s defense — a defense that looks a lot better than it did in Week 1.
The outside noise about the offense has been loud these last few weeks, with social media posts, podcast quotes, and interview questions only stirring the pot about alleged frustrations among the team. Jalen Hurts has done his best not to fan the flame, and continues to take accountability for whatever struggles they’re going through. The QB is hardly the biggest issue, and several players have alluded to the play calling contributing to their inefficiency.
Hurts has answered the call every time he’s been challenged, earning a perfect passer ranking against the Vikings just a few weeks ago. Everyone expected a big passing game last week against the Lions that never came, but hopefully the Eagles are able to find some explosive play opportunities and get things going in both the passing game and the run game — because Saquon Barkley has been having his own challenges breaking free this season.
Still, the Eagles are an 8-2 team and sit at the No. 1 spot in the NFC East and No. 1 in the entire NFC. A second win over the Cowboys would nearly solidify a division title in back-to-back seasons — the first time the NFC East has had a team win in consecutive years since the Eagles did it in the early-2000’s.
