The MVP (Most Valuable ‘Phin) for week three is quarterback Skylar Thompson!
Just kidding. Did you almost have a heart attack there for a minute? My apologies, but I tend to make jokes during painful situations in an effort to alleviate some of the agony I’m experiencing.
Speaking of painful, how about those Miami Dolphins, baby?!
Sure, they got walloped by three touchdowns against the Seattle Seahawks, but at least Mike McDaniel was wearing some cool sneakers when it happened! And I sure do love his designer shades. My only request is that he start earning the money he uses to purchase those expensive items by actually preparing a gameplan for his backup quarterback instead of asking him to run the same intricate system specifically designed around Tua Tagovailoa’s $167 million skill set — a skill set that sits firmly on the injured reserve list at the moment.
What am I writing about again? Oh yeah, the MVP…
Miami Dolphins Week Three MVP – Zach Sieler
Sunday’s loss cannot be pinned on the defense. They did give up 17 first half points, which is sub-optimal, however, they followed that up by only allowing seven points in the final two quarters of play. In fact, through three games of the 2024 NFL season, the defense has only surrendered those seven second-half points after blanking both the Jacksonville Jaguars and Buffalo Bills in the third and fourth quarters during weeks one and two.
Of all of the Dolphins’ defenders, my game ball goes to defensive tackle Zach Sieler.
Sieler played his tail off all game long, making multiple impact plays including a sack of opposing quarterback Geno Smith and an interception off of a tipped ball later in the contest.
If Miami can somehow get their offense rolling (Snoop Huntley, anyone?) then, combined with the adequate defense we’ve seen from the Dolphins thus far this season, the team may be okay in the long run. That is a BIG “if,” however.
