Random Ramsdom: They’re favored to win the top NFC spot?

I don’t think the Los Angeles Rams will have the top spot in the NFC going into the playoffs, but according to Next Gen Stats, the Rams technically have the best chance. I don’t think the Los Angeles Rams will have the top spot in the NFC going into the playoffs, but according to Next Gen Stats, the Rams technically have the best chance. Of course, predictive stats in one hand and nothing in the other are the same thing. Stats aren’t real until they are realized.

So, as cool as it is that the Rams may have the best chance at the first overall NFC seed, it somewhat doesn’t matter unless it happens. Also, I’d bet on the Eagles to take the first spot because they have the tiebreaker over the Rams (due to the Rams blowing a 19-point lead to their NFC competitor).

But hey, what do I know? I am just enjoying some very positive Rams news and vibes, them being at the top of power rankings lists is cool, and L.A. having a shot at a first round bye-week is very cool, but these things would be a lot cooler, if the Rams actually made these things happen.

Rams have highest probability to earn No. 1 seed in NFC playoffs, per Next Gen Stats (ramswire)

“However, Next Gen Stats’ playoff predictor gives L.A. the highest probability to take the top seed from the Philadelphia Eagles, earn a first-round bye and have home-field advantage throughout the playoffs.

The Rams’ 42% chance to finish No. 1 in the NFC is just 1% better than the Eagles’ 41% chance despite Philadelphia owning the head-to-head tiebreaker from their Week 3 showdown.“

Quentin Lake doesn’t leave the field for the Los Angeles Rams defense.

So when he was forced into the locker room due to an elbow injury, late in the first half of last Sunday’s win over Seattle, it could have been disruptive if not devastating to the Rams chances against a division rival.

Fortunately, Josh Wallace was standing by to step into the void.

“Q-Lake’s a brother to me,” the 25-year-old from Maryland said. “Just seeing him go down, you know, shakes us up mentally. I was glad we were able to perform and get the win for him. The (defensive back) unit was just saying, ‘We gotta get this for Q. We gotta get this for Q.’”

Rams DB Quentin Lake underwent elbow surgery, could still return this season (ramswire)

“In Sunday’s win over the Seattle Seahawks, Quentin Lake suffered an elbow injury. It was severe enough to require surgery, which he had on Tuesday, according to Ian Rapoport of NFL Network. The procedure was a success and “there is a good chance for Lake to return later this season in the playoffs.”

Mike Garafolo of NFL Network noted that “there is hope he’s back before or during the playoffs,” so it’s possible he could return before the end of the regular season.“
