The Minnesota Vikings have made trips to Europe as a part of the NFL’s International Series in three of the last four seasons, and there’s at least a possibility that they could make it four out of five in 2026. . .and, potentially, add a new country stamp to their passports to boot.
Numerous sources are reporting that the New Orleans Saints are finalizing negotiations to be the “home team” for what would be the NFL’s first regular season game in Paris, France, and that the game could take place as early as the 2026 season.
Guess who’s scheduled to play a road game against the Saints next year?
Now, the Vikings, and more specifically the Wilf family, have made no secret that they’re more than happy to volunteer to play overseas. Much like they did this year in their back-to-back games in Dublin and London, having that game against the Saints moved overseas would allow them to avoid the hostile environment of the Superdome for the more neutral or, possibly, more Vikings-friendly environment they’d likely have in Paris.
From what I’ve gathered from reading the comments about the international games here over the years, a lot of fans generally aren’t thrilled by the idea of the Vikings playing overseas. Obviously, it would be easier for the majority of fans to take a road trip to a game stateside if they were going to attend a Vikings road game rather than hop a flight to France and juggling all of the logistics that would take. There are quite a few, however, who will make the trip, and I’m guessing that makes it worth it to the NFL.
It might seem like it’s a bit early to start speculating about this sort of thing, but hey. . .we’re only about six months away from the National Football League announcing the 2026 regular season schedule, so why not go ahead and get a jump on it now?
