Cam Skattebo’s participation in a staged WWE event on Monday at Madison Square Garden that involved some pushing and shoving between Giants players and WWE Superstars drew a mixed reaction. Some fans loved it, others wished that three weeks post surgery for a gruesome ankle injury Skattebo had avoided anything even remotely dangerous to his recovery.
Giants’ interim head coach Mike Kafka was unperturbed.
“I trust Skatt,” Kafka said on Wednesday.
Kafka said he knew several players were going to the WWE show on Monday.
If you haven’t seen it, this is what happened:
The big man who steps up behind Skattebo is Giants’ defensive tackle Roy Robertson-Harris. As Jordan Ranaan pointed out, Robertson-Harris got a rise out of the crowd and nailed his part in the staged melee.
Skattebo did not take kindly to some of the criticism he received for his participation. He took to ‘X’ to make the following statement:
“Honestly if you don’t like that I’m having a good time while dealing with a tough time, then just go ahead and unfollow and casually move on. I’m not able to play football and have the fun I’ve been having my whole life so I am doing things outside the box trying to find stuff to keep me happy. Enjoy the rest of y’all’s week and just don’t talk about me if you ain’t got nothing nice to say.”
